(What are you planning to do with the shelves that are showing?) I don't know if I'd hang a mirror there because of the light switch. You want the mirror to look connected to the table and not too hight. What's the measurement from the top of the table to the top of the light switch? The bottom of the switch looks where I'd want the bottom of the mirror (about 6"). I'd prime and paint the switch backplate to match the walls. Also any vents. This makes a huge visual difference. As for something on top, what about a low, long bowl for keys or decorative items - boxwood balls, natural vase filler, etc. If you choose wall art I'd hang it so the middle is about 60" from the floor. This may or may not affect the light switch. Another option is to use something decorative in front of the switch to hide it and something(s) on the other side for balance....See MoreNeed decor help with my foyer...
Comments (21)An entry stairway is the perfect place to include family photos in the house. I would not have them all the same size & so perfect in placement as Violet showed. Adding some objects in different shapes here & there such as round mirrors to repeat the circle pattern in the lovely railing. This will take time & should not be done in one day. Take your time & live with the changes made to critique them. You have a very large area to work with & therefore can accommodate many shapes & positions. Don't be afraid of visually overlapping items as you mentioned as with the lamp & the stairway as that just adds more interest. Have fun with it....See MoreHow do I update/decorate my foyer?
Comments (6)I would move your bench over closer to the light switch so that it is not covering part of your stairs. Then i would put a pretty plant on the stair side of your bench. A rug is needed so maybe a longer one like you have in front of the door, so that it comes in front of your bench, Love your bench....See MoreHelp with decorating my foyer
Comments (13)Because the table is ornate, you need something clean. Its all about the juxtaposition. I would look for a large round simple metal framed mirror. Black, bronze, or antique brass would all look great. Picture credit: Rooms for Rent. Large natural branches are perfect to reflect in the mirror. I don't like the lamp in the photograph, but you can see the scale. The lamp is too farmhouse. I hope this gives some direction! Third + Windsor Interior Design...See MoreSharon Fullen
