Question about using Ikea Godmorgon vanities with wall mounted faucets

I keep seeing lovely photos of people's bathrooms using Godmorgon vanities with wall mounted faucets, and my question is how are they doing that? Are they all doing custom vanity tops and sinks? Or are they opting for the Tolken/Horvik style sink, swapping out the faucet for a wall mount, and just leaving a discreet hole in the counter where you can't see it?

I often use non Ikea counters and sinks there is no reason why not .

Example: IKEA sells this GODMORGON / ODENSVIK sink cabinet (aka vanity)+sink+faucet combination but you can buy the GODMORGON sink cabinet alone and add your own countertop, sink and faucet.

Thanks for the suggestions, tinan. Actually, I've looked a lot for sinks and it's surprisingly hard to find any that are narrow enough without being just as tall as the ones in the picture. Some round ones, but a round white ceramic sink always makes me think of the dentist. :) And this, which is pretty cool as a single sink and only comes about 3-1/2" up from the counter (it's semi-recessed), but I think would be too fussy in a pair:

Thanks so much for the suggestions and advice. I am concerned about being able to get the tub close enough for a faucet reach but far away enough to clean. Unfortunately, a floor mount is not ideal since we're on a concrete slab. A wall mount would be a much easier install. It would be on a wall backing up to the master closet, so I think we could also have a panel to access the plumbing. I really like the Newport brass fixture, although it's a bit more modern than fixtures we've used in the other bathrooms. I would like to use a readily available brand name so parts are replaceable.

tira_misu - thank you, and yes, it's the godmorgon storage cabinet. It's a bit shallower than the vanity which for our bathroom is ideal, as the bathroom door opens towards it, and the electrical switches that were already there, fit perfectly between door and cabinet. By the way, our faucets are from Grohe and fit just fine. Just choose a single hole faucet without the thingamabob that opens and closes the drain. That would not work.

We have one Godmorgon vanity and several Hemnes vanities (all 48" I think) in our new house and we're very satisfied with all of them. In most of the bathrooms, we installed a vanity with a matching tall storage tower on each side. When you install them properly yourself in your house they'll be fine. My husband is a carpenter/builder and is always aghast at the lousy installation jobs at Ikea. For the bathrooms and kitchens, the problem is twofold -- Ikea employees do a terrible job putting together the item, and then do a terrible job attaching the terribly built item to the wall. Pros include all the storage, the ease of cleaning the integrated ceramic sinktop (Odensvik), and the price (esp on sale). I haven't come up with any cons yet.

I have heard that people struggle with getting the plumbing right when they use non-ikea sinks due to the depth of the drawers. Was curious if leaving the hole behind the sink was the path of least resistance, or if they really are using different counters and sinks altogether.

Why not make it easier on yourself and put the faucet on the countertop?

Moen or other branded countertop mount faucets for vessel sinks are about 350 to 400$

Terminating the plumbing for a wall mount is a permanent config. Requires re running the plumbing. Easy to do if that’s what you want. You need a wall mount facet
