Need help deciding between free-standing and deck-mounted bathtub
Comments (18)The WetStyle f/s tub has a removable tray that sits across the tub. I like numberjunkie's idea of a shelf or ledge behind the tub for placing items and also like the idea of having the shower wall next to the tub tiled half-way up to have a space for installing a grab bar. WetStyle has an optional shelf that surrounds the tub, but I think it would make it more challenging to get in and out of the tub - would need to hop over the shelf. The drop-in tub I was initially considering was 72"x42" but that would likely not fit, so would need to be 72"x36". This weekend I looked at an open house (new construction) in my area that had a drop-in tub with a narrow space for the deck surround (see attached photo). The deck was tiled on the top and on the apron with white subway tile. I noticed that with the narrow deck space (about 2") and the tub overhang, it would be awkward to sit on the edge of the tub and swing my legs in or out of the tub. Wiithout space for a deck that is wide enough to comfortably sit on, ease of entry or exit may come down to depth of the tub and options for placement of grab bars. The Wetstyle tub is 22" deep; the drop-in tubs are generally deeper, more like 26"...See MoreWhat wall mounted faucet for this freestanding tub?
Comments (0)X-posting from bathrooms and hoping to get a response here. I need to choose a wall mounted faucet for a freestanding tub we're using in a master bath remodel. We're readying the house for sale so looking for nice quality but affordable options. DH prefers Moen shower valves so it would be nice to find a tub faucet that's either the same brand or one that will coordinate with Moen shower and sink faucet options. We'll be using chrome finishes. This is the tub, vanity, and sconces we're using. We'll also be using a tumbled carrara subway tile in the shower and along the bottom half of the tub/vanity wall. The floor will be a black montauk slate tile. Kind of going for a modern rustic look. I prefer cross handles but levers are fine too. The faucet will be mounted on the wall along the back of the tub....See MoreI need a recommendation on a 60-inch freestanding tub!
Comments (6)Leftfoot, I have the V&A clawfoot 60" slipper tub and LOVE it. It is not an inexpensive tub, but it is also one you will not regret. Getting use to it from a garden cultured marble tub was the only thing. Because it is more narrow, it takes a lot less water to fill it. My hubby who is 220, son who is 6.1 195 son and I love it. Son likes it better than the standard tub in his bathroom. The one thing you cannot do, because it is not cast iron, and is a stone resin, is sit on the side of it. It is only 122 lbs....See MoreLooking for wall mount faucet for freestanding tub..have some issues.
