When you look for an update, you can find out what the colors trending up in your neighborhood are. Walk around and take a good look. Pick up a "new real estate developments" brochure and go online. There are regional preferences for colors. Los Angeles is much different from Toronto, for example.

Too cool looking to cover in paint oh my gosh! Consider having grey accent used for white walls and paint maybe one bump out section grey like in front of home. Walls in back and front grey or color that compliments stain, maybe black. Beautiful home!

Remember that once it’s painted or stained, there’s no going back. Your house is beautiful and unique. As for making it “more modern,” it’s plenty modern as is! Was it designed by an architect? If I were you, I’d find out the history of the house just in case it was designed by someone notable in your area. If so, you would devalue it by making such a significant alteration to the architect’s design and vision. I am always of the opinion that if something is real, quality wood (as opposed to something like replaceable veneered plywood), then it’s worth letting the wood be wood. Refinishing it, rather than painting it, would bring out the beauty of the cedar. There are good products available nowadays for refinishing exterior wood. If the white is cement (and not stucco) then you would be painting a surface that is rarely seen in houses (white cement – which adds to the modern character of the house). The white contrasting with the wood emphasizes the angular design. Painting the cement gray will just make it plain old gray cement. I could go on and on, but I think you get my point. You have a unique house, with an interesting and attractive design – if you refinish the wood in its natural state, it will be even more stunning.

Such an awesome house! Yours is cooler, but it reminds me of this designer's house. She painted it black. The right shades of black and off-white could be really nice I think. You could stain it black too, vs painting. I did all the research about six years ago when we painted our cedar siding but I can't remember why we decided on paint. It could have been that it lasts longer. However, our house is not as special as yours is; staining would give you flexibility down the road. I would avoid gray on the concrete.

A good competent power washing may be better than paint. The house is beautiful.

We just did our MCM ranch cedar siding in Racoon Fur BM I love it we have the 1950s stucco with the glass bits in it and there are glass bits the same color as we painted . I do love the mix of naural cedar and dark paint too.

How about this? i would keep all the walls and the stucco the color it is.

Great house! I’ve seen these all white also… personally I would go super dark- raccoon fur looks good, I’ve used Sherwin Williams black fox for a whole modern house as well. Solid color stain presumably. I’m assuming that the existing siding has had many coats of stain over the last 40-50 years, replacing some with new wood with a natural finish could look cool but all dark will be hot also. I find the current color much too red.
