*Finally* found Tide w/bleach HE powder!
Comments (23)@ livebetter No, I'm not a chemist * LOL * In fact, one of my worst teachers in high school was a chemistry teacher. From my limited knowledge, silicates are generally included in detergents as "washer protection agents" or "anti corrosion agents". Perhaps some detergents are more aggressive and require this ingredient while others do not, I don't know. I purchased a laundry soap made specifically for conditioned water that contains as it's 2nd or 3rd ingredient sodium metasilicate, which is a corrosion inhibitor. Softened water is notoriously aggressive against metals. The salts in conditioned water corrode the anodes in hot water heaters pretty readily. Soft water can also do a good job leaching copper out of copper water pipes, sometimes causing "blue water" to come out of peoples' taps. This sometimes happens in newer homes, but the corrosion will eventually form a coating on the inside of copper pipes that acts as an insulator against the corrosion. Did you know that the name PERSIL comes from the two primary ingredients in its original formulation? The PER comes from PERborate and the SIL comes from SILicates....See MoreTide Vivid powder VS Gain Icy Fresh Fizz with oxi powder
Comments (13)Doubtful there's "real" softener in Tide plus a Touch of Downy. The description doesn't say anything specific about softener ... just that it has ingredients that help provide a slight bit of softness. Looking at the online ingredient list -- surfactants, process aids, fragrance, polymers, enzymes, soil capturers, brighteners, colorant, opacifier -- none are specifically stated as a softening agent. Comparing the ingredient list of Ultra Downy, the stated softening agent in the Downy is not in the Tide. Likely the Tide+Downy angle is fragrance marketing....See MoreTide Original vs Free and Clear?
Comments (5)Thank you for the replies! We have a whirlpool cabrio- it's new and as the very first not hand me down washer we have ever owned, we love it! I don't believe it has a heater, but our water temps are set around 125-130 I think. I always choose the hottest setting for both washes. I do use extra rinses, but not as consistently as I could. STPP? Help a girl out...what does this stand for? The regular Tide doesn't seem to bother Bubs- he's one now and we've only ever used the scent free variety, until this round. But as he has gotten older, having more solid foods... Let's just say I want to stay proactive in having a great wash routine, haha! biokleen and ecover are both mentioned in and around the diaper forums, too, but tide is the go to one size fits most recommendation, and it does work very well since I increased the amount per load. I will take a look at the pods- the diapers get a no detergent rinse and spin and two consecutive washes, so it would be hard to dissolve them first before adding the dipes. We love the cloth! And actually find it less gross than the sposies all around! thank you, again! I'm going to see if my walmart has a large box of the un scented powder and the pods and give each a try!...See MoreTide he powder less sudsy?!
Comments (20)Greeny. Yes Tide is for sure a good detergent. Need something clean Tide will do it. I try not to judge a detergent by its scent..LOL... I just never understood why those that can't find a Tide scent they like don't just use Tide unscented, afterall either a FS can be used for scent or you can just have the best scent of all...perfume free...just fresh and clean. What could possibly smell better than the fresh scent of clean....See MoreDorian Crouse
