Tide HE VS Gain HE
Comments (5)Tide and Gain are both made by Proctor and Gamble. I switch back and forth between Tide HE and Gain HE. When I was on soften well water, I would cut way back on the amount that I would use (talking liquid versions here). Now, I don't notice any real suds difference between the two ( have city water here now medium in hardness). I do find that Gain HE tends to be around $3 less than Tide HE in my area. However, there are usually sales every couple of weeks, so between the two, I but what's on sale at the lowest price (and use a coupon on top)....See MoreDetergent residue in cloths with Kenmore HE3t and Tide HE
Comments (14)A front loading washer made my life EASIER, not harder! I wouldn't ever go back to a top loader. You have to learn how to use them correctly, just like any new item. But I guess it all depends on whether a person makes the choice to learn how to use their appliances to get the most efficiency out of them. I have no idea why you would think that using a tablespoon of detergent to clean a load is silly. The formulation of detergents in this day and age allow for decreased amounts of detergent. Top loaders use 1/4 to 1/2 the amount that was recommended even 10 years ago. A person used to have to use a LARGE scoop for a regular load-- and the economy sized box of detergent couldn't even be lifted without help! I am sure there are plenty of others on this forum that remember those days :) Please tell me how it is common sense that not enough water is used to rinse properly? If you had researched front loaders and followed the instructions properly, you would find that the decreased amount of water actually rinses MUCH better than a whole tub load of water. That is because the water is forced through the fabic as the drum tumbles and take the soap with it as it does. Compare it to rinsing your driveway off with a hose-- if you don't use a nozzle, the water just runs over the pavement but doesn't rinse it too well but if you use a high pressure nozzle, the dirty water is pushed off of the pavement. I love my FL and love the money I have saved all the way around by using it-- and that doesn't include my time and energy!...See MoreTide with Bleach 'HE' powder MIA ?
Comments (21)I live near Indianapolis and out of the 10 stores (Meijer, WalMt, Target & multiples thereof) only one WM has it and only in the 120 load box. I would think your local store could order it. At 2 tbsp per load my box is lasting longer than I would like. If you have a Mexican grocery nearby try Ariel Oxyanillos. I find it identical or possibly better than the Tide w bleach and equally sudsy....See MoreTide HE powder....3 TBS. is too much!
Comments (8)Larsi, hun, you will never fully just be able to measure and go, to many things influence the suds level, water softness, detergent brand, soil level...so 2tablespoons today may be fine, but next week the exact same load of clothes using the exact detergent and water temp may not be enough, do to soil level, the trial and error never really ends.and isn't it great lol. Us traditional top loader peeps have the same issues, just our machines can handle suds much better than FL'ers, but our clothing can't handle them. We all have to find the correct balance for each load, rather than each detergent. Laundry Therapy session is over, time to huff!!...See Morelarsi_gw
