Need help with long narrow open concept living room PLEASE!
Comments (9)It's gigantic. I'd be trying like hell to avoid that. I'd use the dining table in the dining room for a combo desk /office. I'd buy more flexibility.......comfortable flexibility. A tv can mount flat to the wall, With an IR repaeater, it needs no console beneath. The cable box can go anywhere. I'd get a nice deep and comfy 84 inch sofa, put a console with lamps behind. Add two super comfy chairs and ottomans. A nice generous, light and open cocktail table. Lie down! watch the tube! Put your feet up! Add a little ottoman for a perch at the cocktail table. People love to sit and reach a snack. Add a low table between the chairs at the fire......open and light. Ten x 14 rug to ground everything. ( dotted line ) Go set yourself up in the dining room, to work, and just clean up when you have guests !! No matter the sprawl, no more than three folks will ever sit on that beast of a sectional : ) Two chairs and a total of three ottoman plus at least two on a sofa............for gatherings gives you seven seats. A smashing piece of art over the fire too....See MorePlease help me choose living room chairs
Comments (12)I like your big squash colored chair — looks very inviting and comfy! — so I would keep it and then add another interesting, comfy chair in some nice color and get a much larger rug that pulled together all the colors in an interesting way —- and I would get a much bigger lamp, plus the right pillows and art. (I think all these rugs come in big sizes, not sure) Or I might ditch the 3 chairs and keep the 2 reds and then get 2 of any of these (except the blue, which I would only keep if I was keeping the orange-y chair) But I would still get a bigger rug to define the space and bring everything into the center and a bigger lamp and figure out what art I wanted over the sofa. It could be something as simple as black and white line drawings framed in black. In general I think the sofa is too close to the wall and everything should come forward a bit to ”float” the conversation area more in space. Instead of a corner table + lamp, might be nice to try a floor lamp that arcs into the space....See MoreLong & narrow living room, need furniture placement help please
Comments (3)Another voite to remove the fireplace and hearth. Will you keep a desk area? If so, I would move it to the wall left of sliding doors, put the sofa table on the wall where the desk is now and the sofa against it. A lamp or two on the sofa table. Sleeper sofas are super heavy and sometimes not that comfortable to sit or sleep on. For comfort, a left hand chaise would be nice for TV viewing. With the FP gone, the TV could go to the left a bit and could sit on a small media cabinet. Rig sized correctly and a small round coffee table. ETA: After looking at photos again, I see that is NOT a desk area. If FP is removed, you could use that chest on the "new" wall with the new/smaller TV on top or hung above....See MorePlease Help my Boring Living Room — Need Paint Color Help!
Comments (19)@ginatay124 I completely agree about the pillows. There is a throw in the basket under the coffee table, but it’s an ehhh one. The coffee table is fairly new but I did buy it used to refinish the top. I have a qt. of Urbane Bronze and I need to sand and paint it. Previously we had an upholstered ottoman. It is now downstairs because of water cups spilling on it, etc. Our daughter is 8 so this is just easier for now. Floor lamp is a definite yes but clueless there. My husband has said repeatedly we need one, but i don’t know what style goes and does’t look like an afterthought. Any ideas? We also will need new curtains because those are off white/beige. But I’ll buy white ones unless someone here says emphatically no 😜...See Moredela115
