Design Dilemma Furniture Home Decorating

Does this chair work with this desk?

I’m wondering if this chair looks ok with this desk which I will be moving to my office. Desk is an antique and the chair is an RH Hudson side chair. I don’t want to use a typical office chair. I thought it looked ok, but now I’m wondering if the chair looks too short. Would love opinions. Again, they will not be in the crowded spot they are now

Nope. You have a modern upholstered chair with straight lines coupled with a curvy traditional wood desk. Bad marriage.

I have one 30W CFL in my desk lamp, and it was lighting 11 AVs, and they were all blooming. It was a mix of minis, semiminis and standards. I just thinned it down to 7 yesterday (moved the others to different locations). It gets a tiny bit of overspill from an 85W to the left (angle is wrong, and the reflector is pointing most of the light down into my terrarium), but really, that 30W is pretty much the light that they get. The lamp is about 8 or 9 inches above the leaves. I think I have the light on for 12 or 13 hrs. My lamp is your standard desk lamp with the angular adjustable arm. I wish it had a wider dome/reflector, but it got appropriated to light my AVs. It was originally supposed to actually be my desk lamp : )

Does Houndstooth print work on tufted back chairs?

I am not sure why a print would not work; it would just be more difficult for matching, require more fabric for drop-match and more time consumption of button-covering. Houndstooth or any small print/check, etc., should be very easy to work with.

Wow, so excited to see such good and varied inputs on my request! Thanks @Flo Mangan - I am now certainly going for a ladder shelf for the corner. I am not sure of moving the desk away from its existing place for precisely the reasons @functionthenlook mentioned - my desk job can sometimes result in 8-9 hours, and I do plenty of video calls throughout the day. So not only is it nice for me to have a view (which BTW Flo is right, it is limited since the windows are a bit above my eye level (photo of the view below)) but it is also pleasant to have light on my face. Further, the remaining space in the room comes in handy when the occasional extra guests stay over and the sofa beds need to be pulled out. Thanks everyone for all the rug options - this weekend is going to be (window) shopping weekend :)

Singing two different songs- Something closer to the profile of your rocker would work better. Or change the chair cover to something that goes to the floor, with corded welting to coordinate with the sofa cushions

Would choose comfort over style and get the height right or you'll end up with buyer's remorse.

having back/lumbar support and arm rests helps as does having wheels. Do sit in whatever chair you're considering.

Just for giggles... some years ago a social worker at the local hospital was using an oversized exercise ball as her chair.

The chair need to be functional. The right height. On wheels would be a plus.

If that chair is comfortable to sit at that desk, then keep it. I think a sage green or mauve brocaded fabric on that chair would look better than the plain cream.
