Kenmore Dryer - Side Venting Kit Install
Comments (2)The machine won't be delivered and installed for another week, so I don't have a serial#. I'd like to have a plan in mind before that date - so I know if I should get the delivery guy to install the dryer using the back vent. Here's a link to the Sears website in Canada: http://www.sears.ca/gp/product/B0012XQ18E/ref=pd_huc_gp_1/102-3038077-7588918?ie=UTF8&searsBrand=core From the US website, it looks like model #2872 or 2873 (when I look at the washer, anyway - but the dryer looks different, so it's hard to tell). There is a 'hole' on each side of the dryer where this kit is supposed to go, so I know it can be done - the question is HOW and can it be done later on even after a week or two of back-vent operation (until we can get a handyman to come in and help us install the side-vent kit). Help!!!! Thanks!...See Moreventilation in finished basement laundry room in old house
Comments (6)Running the fan continuously could cause a negative air pressure situation in the basement. In intake air has to come from either the windows in the basement or door leading the the first floor. Does the furnace have it's one outside air intake? If not then having the fan run continously is probably not a good idea. Bathroomfanexperts.com has a large array of electronic timers. There is one which can be progammed to go on and off on a 7 day cycle. Perhaps something like that would allow the fan to exhaust the air periodically. I would think the smallest (50CFM?) bathroom fan would be sufficient....See MoreFisher Paykel drier can it side vent - Dadoes?
Comments (2)The topload dryer models cannot be modified for side-venting through the cabinet. You'd have to do it with elbows, assuming there's room at the rear and side. It can run with a fairly long vent system, but there is a limit on length and number of turns. Check the installation guide available via online download for details. With a 4" outlet hood, three 90° bends allows a maximum of 35 feet rigid duct for proper performance. You might consider the GE Harmony dryer. If I recall, it has a separate blower motor to allow for very long venting. And possibly investigate the Kenmore Oasis, Whirlpool Cabrio, and Maytag Bravos. Whirlpool did at one time have a special "long-vent" option for some models that used a higher-speed belt drive attachment for the blower. In regards to the Calypso, yes they can be problematical, but are very good machines otherwise. I have two, about six years old, bought used. One needed a motor board but has never had any mechanical repairs far as I can tell, it still has the original u-joint. The other, I replaced the u-joint and basket and it needed a lot of clean-up from misuse by the previous owner, but is working fine now....See MoreCheater Vent burping air
Comments (3)I have a very similar installation. My plumber said an oversized air admittance valve is required due to the volume of water that can be pumped through the line. He also mounted it up high on the wall with a louver that shows on the wall. Is there a vent through the roof somewhere in your waste runs?...See Moresuedonim75
