Fisher Paykel drier can it side vent - Dadoes?

Hi Dadoes are you there? I am getting out from under Calypsos. Imagine my pain. I have a second floor central laundry room. If side vented, the drier has a 4 foot run through flex that goes in the side of a built-in cabinet, then a 90 into the 8 foot wall through rigid, another 90 up the wall and then a 90 in the attic with a 16 foot run through rigid pipe to the great outside world. When I moved in I hooked my drier up rear vent with some flex, pulled it out from the wall a few inches, and of course it did nothing but overheat and shut down. Converting to side vent helped a lot. Thus I am really persuaded I need to side vent, plus the extra inches away from the wall were difficult. The local Lowes guy couldn't figure out if the FP could be converted to a true side vent through the machine's cabinet and into mine, but he suggested some sort of rigid pipe converter off the rear vent. I remain suspicious but will of course accept your learned opinion.
