Comments (344)Yes, the motor board can fail in a way that keeps the diverter powered continuously (whenever the machine is connected to power). Unfortunately, the board probably has gone bad again for some reason. From where did you source the new board? Display boards can go bad but less common than motor boards. Did you remove the display board from the console during your investigations? Is it perhaps askew such that the far-left buttons are misaligned from the overlay? There's no way to access diagnostic mode or any other set-up mode (such as machine size) if the machine is non-responsive. Fault codes are viewed by pressing Spin Speed (up or down) until both Slow and Hold are lit. You did that procedure correctly when checking? Machine Size is set (with power off) by pressing/holding Water Temp Up (instead of Temp Down for Diagnostics), then Power. The selected size is indicated by Cold (small tub), Low (medium tub), or Hold (large tub). Press the the appropriate Temp, Level, or Spin Up button to select, then Power to exit. All US machines are large tub. You can try swapping-in the old board if you still have it to see what happens. It works other than the diverter problem? The various wire connectors are different sizes so should only fit to the correct locations (other than a smaller connector possibly into a wrong larger socket)....See MoreFisher Paykel GWL11 Problem
Comments (232)@HU-800120566 Next step is do not try running the machine any further with a bad pump unless you have confirmed there's a fuse on the pump wires in the console, and even then it's not a good idea. The next step beyond that is disconnect the wires from the pump and 1) check for 7 ohms resistance reading on the pump and 2) check for 120v power at the pump wires when running it in diagnostics. If no power at the wires then the motor board is bad. If the resistance reading is more than 10% wrong either + or - then the pump is bad ... but it could be bad even if the reading isn't too far wrong. A test cord can be rigged to run the pump directly from an outlet. Clearly the pump is bad it it doesn't run that way ... or if it runs but overheats and shuts off. Are you sure you're getting Fault 39? A failed pump typically triggers Fault 37. However, the machine does not monitor pump operation directly. Failure to drain is determined by way of the water level not dropping when it should be doing so ... which is via the water level sensor ... so Fault 39 could also be part of that problem. 36, 37, 38, and 39 can be related to the water level sensor or pressure tube issues....See MoreFisher Paykel Washer GWL11 Code 49
Comments (7)Thanks for the reply. In diagnostic mode, the tech sheet says the corresponding led should light when either temp up or temp down is pressed. In both cases, the LED lights for an instant, and then goes out, on both hot and cold. Sometime the LED does not light at all. Am I at the point where I need to pull the control board and look for problems there? I found a site that gives general guidance on testing fuses resistors and such on the board. (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-repair-a-Fisher-Paykel-Washing-Machine/) But, I don't think it is exactly my model. If you can suggest some deeper diagnostics I can try, I don't have much to loose if I need a new board anyway. Thanks again!...See MoreMy Fisher Paykel GWL11 washer is leaking...
Comments (3)You didn't say where the leaking is seen. Low fresh water flow rate during rinse is usually caused by an impaired cold water valve. Rinses are always cold. A clogged recirculation hose is unlikely to cause leaking unless it somehow makes the recirculation stream spray at an extreme angle. A leak at the diverter should be evidenced by water drops in the protective cover. The pump may leak at any time during a cycle. Water is in it at all times (the tub sump is never completely drained) but it's more likely to leak when it's running (during Eco Active recirculation or drain). Perhaps the leak is small and isn't apparent until later in the cycle. Set the machine (securely) on blocks for room to see beneath while it's running (use a mirror if necessary) to watch for the leak. As explained in other posts here, DO NOT continue using the machine with a leaking pump, no matter how small is the leak. Did you look directly in the diverter ports? A bit of debris (lint/strings, pin or small nail, even a dime) can block the flapper from fully seating in drain position which allows some of the drain flow to divert through the recirculation port during spin. The recirculation stream (small though it may be) hits the rim of the spinning basket and splatters around inside the cabinet, evidencing as a leak on the floor or in extreme cases from around the lid and seam between the cabinet and top deck. Other leak sources are the water valves or the thermistor seal on the mixing chamber in the console, and the tub/drive shaft seal....See MoreUser
