I need help- I've been too mindful of cost
Comments (11)-Nice looking houses Oaktown, I got some good ideas from browsing through the interior photos. Yes, we have considered a one story....but it was cost prohibitive. -Musicgal- Yes, they are amazing....I want one! -Virgilcarter- I have considered 10-12 ceilings on the entire first floor, but am afraid it would make the house difficult to heat. We have to heat about 5 months out of the year. Robin: Yes, it's a walkout basement ( on the south facing side) Annie- I've seen a lot of houses with the "elevator shaft" look....I really don't care for a full two story vault, no matter how big the room is. Lazygardens- great ideas, thanks so much:) Autumn and okokok- Thanks for the encouragement, I'm leaning towards sticking with 9'. We love our land and our view, I'm planning on having lots of windows and I'm sure that will make the house feel open. I've just been in panic mode lately. Lyfia- You're right, I may be putting too much $ into the kitchen ceiling. My reasoning was that the kitchen often gets too hot and I thought vaulting up to 12' may make it cooler. Also, the kitchen is in the back and can line up with the porch ( to keep the house rectangular)....See MoreCraigslist find!! (I've been MIA)
Comments (11)Hmm, I'd say take the living room wall color, and amp it up a couple shades darker for those chairs? Teal is great, and maybe that's why it appears to be "overdone"? Lovely find! Rattlesnakes, eh? Dad ran over one when I was a kid -- it was as long as our rural country road was wide. The thing didn't die. He had me get out of the car and run back and get Mom and the hunting rifle -- Mom was petrified of snakes but she also didn't want to see that thing near either of her kids. I think she got maybe 200 feet close and passed on the rifle to me, who passed it on to Dad so he could get rid of the thing. That snake got a mention for extreme length in our community weekly newspaper. Best, though, to get rid of them at 5 (or less) feet! I don't know if it was that snake or some other, but one time Dad did cook up rattler. If you stay away from the venom sacs in the head, the meat is edible. Tasted like chicken... (LoL). Hoping your hubby doesn't need to stay deployed too much longer....See MoreI've been trying to calm down for an hour - stained marble
Comments (22)Ouch. A stiff gel/paste mix with a Ph neutral cleaner and poultice + baking soda may help lift, you may also want to cover the paste in saran wrap while it sets for 48 hrs...after which I would be utilizing an extractor to suck out the stain rather than wet liquids to carry it further down into the stone. Knowing that you have a laticrete waterproofing and mesh underneath id leave tearing out the tile as a last resort as it may compromise the waterproofing opening a bigger issue. If you find the stain to be very topical and not so deep set you may also ask youre installer about polishing down the pan with successive diamond grits/poulstice to remove the top most layer -,(******** not for the rookie polisher) - best of luck...See MoreI've been staring at this kitchen for 3 weeks ...
Comments (53)No microwave, either! Congratulations on your flip!!! It used to be that the refrigerator left the house with the previous owner when moving, so I was quite surprised when we moved this last time. We had planned to use the fridge in our pantry until our realtor said the fridge stays with the house. 🤔 Anyway, we left our very nice fridge. Heard from the new owners that it died promptly 2 months after we moved out. Oooops! Glad that we did not go through the trouble of storing it for the new house....See Moreeverdebz
