Help! I've got spring fever! I've been ordering . . .
Comments (34)Brenda, it is nice when even family members are enablers, eh? LOL!! I actually keep telling my husband "There's this garden in Western NY that someday we have to go visit!" I would love to see your beautiful garden some day. The different areas you have planted and the variety is amazing. I've been lusting for some more photos from you. Would love to see what you have on file for your veggie garden from last year if you have any time to post some. Goodness! I finally cracked open the catalog for my local nursery who I really like to support. She's a true plantswoman who I so enjoy chatting with, etc. I just sent an email over to her with my "list" (is was a long one) of plants to put aside for me for pickup when they open. It's a terrible habit I have of giving her a list each year for pickup. But my birthday is always right around when she opens, so it's a birthday present, right?!?! LOL!...See MoreSome stuff I've been up to
Comments (19)Thanks again. Mom and dad were married just short of 55 years and had one of those really great marriages. She is missing him terribly and it's heartbreaking to see but she is slowly coming back to her old self. Shortly after dad passed away mom found out she has macular degeneration which initially scared her to no end. But she is a good candidate for some new treatment which seems to be working (stopping the progression). Then about 6 weeks later her very good friend also passed away (if anyone recalls my post about mothers and store coupons, that's the friend). It has been a few very tough months. Again, thanks everyone (and Shauna - no, I don't think you've flipped out at all, I get it). I really like the idea of selling hens & chicks, Vrie, and I sure have enough of them multiplying like crazy out there. Maybe some shallow dish gardens made up with decorative stone... I don't think I'll expand into perennial divisions or bulbs, though - I like the bouquet making and dried arranging too much I guess. (Plus my application didn't indicate live plants, but I think I could swing hens & chicks in a dish garden - that's kind of a crafty-arrangey kinda thing). The market goes into mid-October, I believe, but after the September 9 weekend I probably won't attend much. There is an indoor Christmas market in December which was actually what got me started on this whole thing - I wanted to get in on that Christmas market last year and they told me I had to be approved to and a member of the farmer's market. So I applied. I'm planning on selling fresh greenery centrepieces at that time. Otherwise I'll do a couple of local fall craft fairs with the drieds. Margaret, you're so right about making some $$$ doing something you love to do. For a number of years I've been intent on getting the garden to somehow pay for itself. Believe me, it all (and then some) goes back into the yard in some form or other. But that's okay, that's the intent. I think $1.50 a bulb is more than reasonable, Brenda - I'd be tempted to go $2 and next spring raise your potted price. What's a potted lily go for at a nursery these days (haven't bought one so don't know). Usually the deals are unnamed/mixed bulbs, but if you have names and pictures to go along with those lily bulbs - I know I'd buy them at that price. Not to mention you actually get to SEE the bulb before you buy it. Flash some of those beautiful photos and you're no doubt going to have no trouble at all....See MoreI've been up all night....
Comments (6)Hi Anj, Not what you needed right now, huh? We've already had it here. GD, DS, and DIL all had it, then I kept the GD and ended up with it. Vomiting and diarrhea only lasted over night--took it easy the next day, then was fine. Not sure how, but DH escaped it. Lucky him! Sorry your DD may have to miss her program at school. Know she will be disappointed. The bright side is that all three got it at once so now it will be over with--IF you or DH can avoid it! I'll keep my fingers crossed for luck. I don't seem to be getting much done, sure no painting, even though there were still projects I wanted to do. I've kept the GD quite a bit lately. Most of the shopping and wrapping are done--just a couple more things to pick up. Got to deliver my gifts for the neighbors--maybe Saturday or Sunday. I'll be working at the store Thurs. & Fri.--possibly Sat. too. We're going over to DS's on Christmas Eve for dinner (I'm taking the food) and Christmas movies and then early Christmas morning to watch GD open her gifts and play with all her new stuff. They said it would be easier for them to do it all at their house, and DH and I are flexible so it is fine with us. Having only one son makes things pretty simple. GD is so excited about it all this year. Couldn't wait to "touch" the pretty lights. Loved the tree in the living room--kept saying "what's it doing now, Daddy?" Not sure what she thought it would do! Ha ha Reluctantly agreed to sit on "Santa's" lap for her picture, and tells everybody "Ho Ho Ho--Merry Christmas!" We're loving every minute of it! Hope you get a chance for a nap today Anj. And sure hope you don't catch that "bug". Luvs...See MoreKitchen Demo starts today - I've been up since 3
Comments (12)You are absolutely normal. Breathe in. Hold 1, 2, 3. Breathe out slowly. Do this two more times. Again, what you are feeling is normal. All of us have buyer's remorse at some time during the process. It will be OK. I went through this too and still have my occasional bouts. Remodeling is one of the most stressful things we can do. Make sure you take 5 minutes out for yourself each day and do something to take off the edge. Walk in your neighborhood. Book a massage. Give yourself a facial. Ask me how I know? We have all been there and done that. We all understand. It will be OK. Hang in there. Eventually you will come out the other side and it will be wonderful. BTW, you can let your KD and GC worry for you. That is part of their job!...See MoreMuriel Thompson
