When an elderly family member passes away

I was reading Ipink's post about what to bring to the family after a passing.

Of course, if there is a pot luck type of get together, you bring enough for the crowd and maybe some leftovers for the family for the next couple of days to get through.

When my MIL passed away, my FIL was now a wealthy retired doctor in a retirement community! (read mostly widowed females!)

Oh! They circled like vultures! And brought casseroles! And casseroles! And casseroles! Each would have fed a dozen people! Pops didn't know what to do with all of this food and had to sneak it out to the trash can!

This is when I started making his favorite meals and bagging them in foodsaver bags in 2-4 servings!

Even when he went almost blind, he would pull out a slab-o-soup or a lasagna, order a salad from the kitchen and enjoy a meal with his brother.

My point is to help the grieving with meals that will help them down the line, or help them freeze some for later use.
