backsplash help please!

Hi
I recently did a kitchen remodel using Cambria Brittany a gold for counters and island. Kitchen isn’t huge . Cabinets are cherry with nutmeg finish. I’ve been looking months for a backsplash (22sq ft) that complements counter. After months of looking and dragging samples back and forth I thought I found something. Had it installed and it is awful. Im out $1600 and must redo. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The countertop is an elevated/styled material and would look great as a backsplash with a small ledge on top. Just keep in mind that your wall outlets and switches are what is also in play. For a seemless, cohesive look they should be hidden if possible. Your cabinets are so pretty!!!!

I disagree about the gray tile. A light gray glass subway tile might work nicely. You already have white cabinets everywhere so it won't "dull it down". Get samples to make sure they work with the slab you've chosen: The more elongated version would make it a bit more contemporary; and the traditional 3 x 6 more traditional.

ref pic for idea for BS if yr cabinets are Bright White ref comment he tiles are from California Art Tile and they are 2 x 8. I don't have the exact color information but the cabinetry in this kitchen is bright white and the tile matches almost identically, so I would look for a bright tile with no cream or gray tones, just a solid white. I do not have the grout information either, as both the tile and grout were done through the homeowner, but our advice is always to get a sample chip of your cabinetry, your backsplash, and if you're able your countertop. Bring these to look at your grout colors and determine which one is best. You can always go to your kitchen designer or interior designer with questions but if you're doing it yourself this is the best way to make sure your colors will match up.

I have beveled subway in my bathroom, and I won’t use them in my kitchen. They look nice, but there’s just too much going on visually for me to have them in the kitchen. Sometimes when I can’t make a decision, i just go with a neutral one because I clearly don’t LOVE the other options. Also, you don’t have to LOVE everything about the kitchen. The rest of your kitchen is so nice I imagine you won’t regret having a backsplash that’s just fine. Fine is fine! (My vote would be plain white subway, either 3x6 or 3x12. It’ll still look good and untrendy no matter how long you have your kitchen.)

Green goes well with warm colors, and green is appropriate given the style of your cabinets (Craftsman). Have you looked at greenish glass? Sometimes trying to get neutrals to match is too much work. I like the color of the ogee tile you're showing, but not the shape. Subway is a better fit with the style of your kitchen.

Hard to determine. in your first picture, the tiles look creamy/ beige. In the second, they look gray.

Your third is no backsplash.

Can we see a picture like that one?

For me, they look okay in the first picture.

I like your backsplash and love your counters. Oh and the nutmeg stain ooohhh la la. Beautiful!!! However, It does seem like the backsplash is a cooler tone of white than the counters. It could be my monitor but that is the only issue I am seeing that is some how looks a bit cooler. I wonder if under-cab lighting can help. A yellow warm light rather than the typical white blue lights.

If you can I would do the countertops up the wall. You have the ideal set up for it bc your stovetop isn’t at a wall.
Otherwise I’d look for a tile that’s cream as opposed to white with blue undertones.
( the current isn’t horrible. And is definitely liveable. But yes the cool tones are clashing a bit with the countertops)

Thank you for your input. The backsplash has variations of color. It looks fine at a distance but not up close . It does not complement the Brittanica Gold. I do have under cabinet lighting and it doesn’t help. I love my countertops and cabinets but finding a backsplash has been exhaust and now expensive and must be redone.

If you don’t like it, and are over it, use your countertop material.

Thats a beautiful countertop and the backsplash is a much cooler white. In your first pic it looks like the tile to the left is warmer and might go better with your counter but can you get a box of it and stack them up to make sure you achieve the look you want?

Doing something and then having to redo because it didn't come out as expected, we’ve all been there!
