UPDATE: Garden Circle Exchange Ring September
Comments (89)Hi I just wanted to express my thanks for YaYa and my pal for checking in on me. I truly appreciate it more than words can say. My pal has asked me to guess who she is....I emailed the person whom I thought it could be....I am not sure I am right as my pal doesn't talk about children in her letters but does in the posts. Hummmm Well soon I will know! I emailed her as I didn't want to post here as I don't want to be the cause of someone finding out who their pal is if they don't want to know!! My pal included scilla "White City" is my package this month!! Can't wait to see them bloom!! I don't have anything like them. Plus the fact that they are white makes me happy to add them to my angel garden in memory of my special nephew. Thanks my special pal for being so kind to me and taking the time not to only send a surprise package my way but always finding the time to write. My pal trains puppies to become therapy dogs which I think is so wonderful!! What a special person. I thank you for doing that as there is such a need for that. I admire that you are able to let the pup go after being trained. Bless your heart as I know that can't be easy! Hugs! Take care and enjoy your weekend!! Looks like some more warm weather! Yippie I may just get caught up on my planting yet!!...See MoreOld Wedding Rings
Comments (25)My DH was never married to BM so no engagement/wedding rings were around. I do remember YEARS ago (probably 6+) I was in DH's office at work and opened a drawer and there was some jewelry---rings, braclets, necklaces. When he and BM had broken up, she'd stuffed everything he'd ever given her into a box and given it all back. There was a beautiful diamond and tanzanite ring, and some diamond studs----several other nice pieces. I wasn't necessarily *bothered* by it but it did make me feel weird. Not sure why. I have to admit, when I've seen pictures of DH with BM and SS as a baby, it makes me feel weird, too. I think it's a) partly because DH was so young (19-25) in the years he was with BM and it's odd for me to see him that way and b) BM is just so awful/cruel/vindictive now that it's tough for me to imagine him actually BEING with her. Fortunately, since they split when SS was 10 months, HE doesn't have any memories of them together. So there aren't pics in his room or anything of his parents together. All the old pictures DH has are in boxes and filing cabinets in our garage, and some are in a photo album, but most of those are of DH alone with SS---in the years after he and BM broke up. Rambling....anyway, at one point, DH asked me if I wanted any of the jewelry. I think the death stare I gave him said it all! I assume he sold the jewelry or something because I've never seen it since and I've never asked. I really don't care. I wasn't married to DD's father, either, nor was I engaged. My ring now was purchased by DH for me---not a family heirloom or anything. If we were to ever divorce, I assume I would keep it, not sure what I'd do with it. I could see hanging onto it and giving it to DD or maybe having the diamonds removed and made into a bracelet for her or something. I don't think it would be weird for your DH to give his old wedding band to his son--like someone else said, his son IS a product of that marriage. I don't think his son would see it as his dad holding onto old romantic feelings or anything. JMO....See MoreBlown away by quotes for soapstone?!? What's the average?
Comments (32)Lots of granite fabricators also work soapstone. We do, charge $82 per square foot. Check you local slab yards to see if they carry soapstone, then ask them who does a good job with the material. It can be tricky to polish, hard and soft spots make it tough to do well. We learned to use a very light touch and use sandpaper instead of the diamond pads. It is good material, one of the few natural stones that I think make a good countertop. Really pretty, we have a large greenish black Island that I eat lunch on every day at the shop, can't stain it and it has a soft feel to it, glasses don't clink as hard as on other stones....See MoreWear a Fake Diamond Wedding Ring?
Comments (82)This OP has a sort of similar story to one posted on GW a couple/few years ago. A controlling spouse who, I think, died. And she didn't/couldn't live her "new" life. Then an old friend asked her out. I don't remember what happened. I probably quit reading. Lindsey, I'm here for the same reason as you. My hints are 63,959 today. I don't even try to keep up with them. But a lot of them will be for indirect family so not as important as for my direct family. Still, they all count and for DNA matches it helps to have everyone....See MoreAnnegriet
