If you like it, wear it. If you have it flaunt it.

If you are uncomfortable with it, have the diamonds remade into a necklace that you would wear, or if the diamonds are close enough to matching stud earrings....then you could have less valuable stones added to "mom's" wedding set and wear it on the other hand....like garnets, amethyst...whatever strikes your fancy.

As far as wearing it on your right hand, I wear my mom's diamond guard band on my right hand so I find it perfectly appropriate! The how many carats is too many issue depends a lot on you and how you would feel - if you feel it's flashy, then you won't be comfortable. If you feel the size of the 2 rings overwhelm you, same thing. Large jewelry makes me feel like I'm playing dress-up, but that's me. I would not trade out what my DH designed for me unless it was with something else he designed - for me.

DH upsized it for me already because he thought I may lose it if I'm not wearing it. ( He knows me well.) He wants me to stick it on my finger and wear it for the next 30 years. Lol.

Mama was a delicate flower with slender fingers. I am a Farmer's daughter who sports a size 8 1/2. He lowered the diamonds in the setting because he knows I will dig in the dirt, etc without consideration of my rings. It is more practical now.

I think I'll wear it for a day or two and see how I feel. Mom was a jewelry person. I'm not. That said, I'm thinking of getting my ears pierced. She left me lots of nice earrings. I know. I'm an epic failure as a jeweler's wife and Mother. Don't even have pierced ears...

Well, it's going to depend on how you feel about wearing daily jewelry if you'll like it on your right hand.

My wedding ring is almost 5 carats of baguettes & round stones, and I also wear a ring on my middle right finger that is over 1 carat of round stones surrounded by a lot of gold (I prefer yellow gold on me). I have large hands, too, and the rings look good on me. But I LIKE a lot.of sparkle. I wear them both constantly-removed only to make meatloaf.

You're fortunate that your DH can redo her jewelry for you, so if it doesn't work as a right.hand ring. Maybe he can do.something completely different.

Pesky, thanks. Aimee said she thought I could pull them off better because of my large hands. The diamonds don't look so blingy. She said Nana's ring is more of a cocktail style than a wedding band style so I think I'm going to put it on and forget about it.

Never too many big diamonds. Too many little ones scattered about your neck, ears, pierced nose, etc., might look bad. But big white rocks on the hands -- never. Would a French manicure ever be too much?

I wanted to try to read the markings on my mother's costume (and maybe some not costume) jewelry. Just the words, not evaluate stones are anything. I've tried with the magnifiers that are laying around the house, and even with a #7 mirror, but I can't make them out. Will this inexpensive loupe do the trick? Do I need more magnification or better quality? I know I need a lot of light. Will next to a window or a lamp suffice?

DH uses optivisors at work.

If you have a Radio Shack around you, go there, tell them your problem and see if they have something that will work. Take a piece with you and ask if you may try it before you buy it. You should be able to find something cheap that you know will work.

Can you take pictures of both rings? They don't have to be on your fingers.

I think you could pull it off...BUT...you need to keep well manicured nails. I'm a country girl too and I usually do a clear polish on my nails and call it a day. lol.

I think it's what you feel comfortable wearing. You might feel a little over-blinged the first few times you wear both rings but try it and see if it doesn't become more natural - especially since this is a family piece. And it's not like you're wearing 2 'engagement' rings.

DH has given me quite a few important stones over the years, and I've discovered that I can wear a large diamond on one hand and a colored gem on the other as long as I don't overdo the look and carefully select what other jewelry I add.

DH has designed many of the pieces he's given me and it pleases him so much when I wear them - but he's apt to say "Wear as many as you want" and as a short woman I feel I have to edit the accessories.

My wedding ring set has a 1.25K center diamond surrounded by 2 rows of diamonds on the wedding band as well the engagement ring. It looks like a ring from the 40's and is delicate even though it has big stones. I wear it on my left hand.

I inherited my mom's set. She had large hands so her set reflected that. Her set has a 2K center stone with a .75 K diamond on each side of the center stone and 3 .10K diamonds on each side next to the second stones. The wedding band, with more small diamonds, is designed to hold the engagement ring so it all looks like a cocktail ring. I wear it on my right hand.

I'm comfortable wearing both of them all of the time, even when working in the yard. Is it blingy? Yes, but I like it and having her rings on my finger keeps my Mom close to me at all times.
