Need HELP with exterior paint colours!
Comments (5)My two cents -- if you do paint the trim a darker color, it might look like bulgy eyes (I agree with you -- LOL). The house colors are soft look and not bad at all. Front door painted would look nice - maybe a maroon or forest green color if you are determined to paint it. I think the house design forces you to notice the garage and upper left first. If anything, paint the trim the same as the siding and it will really diminish the window/garage stand-out. Give some thought to accentuating your walk to the front porch, the porch itself and the door. Maybe some bigger coach lanterns on the Garage too. Make the entrance so irresistible that YOU don't even notice your trim. Just some ideas....See MoreNeed help in exterior color paint selection
Comments (3)If you want to keep the green trim, you could paint the white part a pale sage green. You already have a complementary color scheme, and so that limits you to red + green, or you could switch to a split complementary scheme, but that would probably get too busy. If you get rid of the green trim, then you have more options. The green part could be painted black or gray instead of white and still have more options....See MoreNeed help with paint colour for cottage exterior

Comments (13)@Sabrina Alfin - Well, that wasn’t my choice - it was my SO’s decision. We are basically renovating my entire house (he’s moving in with me) - and I basically have free reign to do whatever I want on the inside. So, I let him coordinate the back side. Seemed lime a good trade at the time. i wasnt theilled when I saw the drawings/plans for the covered patio area. I discussed it with him - and since the back of the house already didn’t really represent a ”colonial” style style, I gave in to him. It just wasn’t worth arguing over. I figured that I could change the detailing by roofline + paint cedar in furture if I decided to without spending a lot of $$. This way I get the kitchen of my dreams!...See MoreRachelle
