Comments (3)Get Shaper Spray Super Hold. I can't get a comb thru it so I just use regular Shaper for every day, but if I want a do to stay in place for the entire day I use Shaper Super Hold. Also, lots of product. Look for something that says super holding gel, etc. Actually the best gel product is Dipity Do from back in the day. If you want to further curl your hair use the gel on wet hair and set with either old fashioned curlers, foam rollers or velcro and let dry or dry with blow dryer. Spray it before you take the curlers out too. Use the product and the spray and you should be good to go. Just make sure you let the spray dry before you start to arrange your hair. If it isn't dry you will make a mess. Cute idea....See MoreDo you have any painting tips?
Comments (35)Thanks pinkpowertools. My painter had told me last year to pound in the nail (which makes a bigger but shallow depression) and do at least 3 passes of joint compound, but never explained how to get the texture right. he told me then to just put 2-3 coats of the same paint (no need for primer) but I found that w/o primer the compound just soaked up the paint and the sheen was never right. I'm using BM Regal Matte so it's not shiny paint. I just had to fix a dozen more screw (not sure why screws would be popping as the house settles) pops in MBR. I'll do another coat of paint over the 1 primer, 1 paint in those areas but told DH that we may just have to paint the whole wall again like they did with our DR and study in order to hide the rows of nail pops in those rooms. Monaw - I've had seams (and settling cracks, but mostly seams) taped professionally 9 months after building, a year later they're back. Think it's just that the house is still settling? DH says we have to wait a few more years then fix and paint again - how long should it take a house to settle enough to make a repair permanent? Thanks...See MoreGood product: hair thickener
Comments (38)Okay I tried the Redken and didn't notice a difference as I always use the super star. How much do you use regularly? Perhaps I didn't use enough. Between the two the super star won. I'm going to try a larger amount tomorrow. Doing a few comparisons. I also use a root lifter spray for those who like a fuller lift. There are several on the market....See MoreDo you have short or long hair and why?
Comments (79)Maybe hair styles are like politics: Local. That comes to mind because we just flew to and from Maui via Dallas. We saw a wide range of hair and dress styles on our flights and in the airports. I agree with Elmer in liking a 'whole-person' look that is simple, neat, smooth, and not 'fussy' -- on men and on women. It's sometimes called looking 'put together'. HS boys sport sparse whiskers to 'look manly'. HS girls buy every 'beauty' product in the drugstore to needlessly decorate their beautiful young selves. The same insecurities often result in balding men who add facial hair and 'locks' down the backs of their necks -- and ladies with flowing manes who turn their heads and shock you with their surgically stretched faces. 'Simple' doesn't mean childish-- like the haggard country and western singer in a full skirt with her hair hanging down her back, a caricature of the weepy girls in her songs. There is such a thing as the general perception of 'age appropriate' and 'occasion appropriate' in hair styles as well as clothing. Hair styling is one way to 'age' an actresses in a story. In "Victoria", the unformed girl is presented with long hair held back with an Alice band...and she skips and runs. Ah, but to be perceived as more than a child, she 'puts her hair up'...and she walks with poise. Women didn't cut their hair in that time, but today they still 'put their hair up', by sleeking it close to the head. The high 'pony tail' that flips around in youth is fastened at the nape, becomes a chignon -- or is cut. The visual is no longer childish, *girlish*, but adult -- often adult in the workplace. How a woman wears her hair in bed is a whole 'nother story. Were I a man, I'd hope my lover would save her most *attractive* style for me....See Moresocks
