Hair Loss Slowing -- An Update
Comments (30)I hesitate to say this because I did it as part of my get rid of migraine program which worked for 5 years. I took flax oil for 3 years in higher quantities. By the end of that I was no longer having migraines and my hair started to thicken up and my hairline rapidly was moving down lower than I've ever had on my forehead. It was very strange. I quit taking the flax oil because I was sick of it plus the excess weight and for 5 years was completely migraine free but it has moved back in. My hair however has stayed growing much more quickly. I'm not sure if causation and all that. Trier beware...See MoreHair texture products: any recommendations?
Comments (50)I was at Ulta last week, not my favorite place to shop, looking something for my hair. I have color treated, fine hair but lots of it. I never use conditioner, a detangler or even shampoo with a conditioner. I stay away from any extra products, they make my hair flat and feel dirty the next day. I asked one of the hairdresser for a suggestion and she recommended Beach Envy volumizer by Redken. it was pricey but she said I could come in and swap it out if I didn't like it. I will say it is the best thing I have ever tried on my hair! Its almost like a gel that you apply after shampooing, work through and then rinse out. My hair is full, the slight curl, I wear it in a longish bob, stays in for at least 3 days and it does not feel dirty, it actually feels good. I like my hair to look healthy and have movement (says my hairdresser) and it does. BTW the gal from Ulta said if I didn't like that product that Fashion waves 07 that lukki suggested was very good too, she actually didn't know which one to recommend to me. I finally have a product that works for me!!! It will probably be discontinued tomorrow LOL....See MoreFollow Up: Virtue Hair Products for Volume
Comments (66)I ordered the shampoo, conditioner, and primer. I got the travel size of the conditioner because I use a lot less than the shampoo. Still, this stuff is REALLY expensive. I've used the shampoo and conditioner twice and see no difference in my hair. I used the primer once and hated my hair that cycle. It could just be one of those days when I would have hated my hair anyway, because that's how it goes with me. For volume at the crown I like Aquage Uplifting Foam at the roots. I'm getting a much needed haircut tomorrow and once the shock of that has worn off I'll give the Virtue products another shot. At that price, I need to love what they do to my hair, because I can spend half of what I did (probably even less) and get good results....See MoreVirtue Hair Products Update #2
Comments (27)I was just reading about Dr. Burnett. His company KeraNetics developed a cream for skin damage after radiation treatment. That cream was FDA-approved. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/keranetics-announces-kerastat-cream-product-cleared-by-fda-for-radiation-dermatitis-301095930.html Since hair is dead, I doubt that products that claim to thicken the hair shaft need FDA approval. I don't know whether this innovative keratin protein Burnett claims to have extracted from human hair is better than any other shampoo that claims its proteins will thicken and smooth the hair shaft. But the bottom line is that if you're looking for hair growth, the products you're using don't seem to address that. I don't think their website makes it clear that their shampoo isn't what makes hair grow. It's minoxidil in their other product that does that. I think its a dubious claim that clogged hair follicles can trap new hair from emerging and that their shampoo has some special ability to cleanse follicles. I think any shampoo will clean your hair follicles. I think you may want to look into topical minoxidil, which has been in use for three decades and is in Virtue's other product. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6691938/...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
