Frizzy, annoying hair. Any ideas?
Comments (13)Do you mean you bought the Silk Drops, the Wellcomb or the Ceramic Hair straightener? Cause $7 for a hair straightener would be kind of low. It is like an electrical device with two flat panels and you section your hair and run it through from top to bottom. Basically it irons your hair out straight. I use one of the black hair products with it- I forget the name, but it is a yellow can and it sprays a bit of oil. I just section, spray and iron. It will stay that way for a few days if I don't get caught in the rain. I wrap it up tightly in a plastic shower cap to go into the shower. Maybe you bought one that has too low of a temperature setting? I got this idea from an African American co-worker and it works for her hair, which is quite tightly curled....See MoreCan we talk hair products?
Comments (14)paintchips, I feel your pain! My hair is sort of in-between right now. I went from a bob-type style to a very short cut, then decided to grow it out a little bit, but not a bob. This has all taken place in the past year or so. Now that it's getting warm here in New England and I'm thinking I want "easy" for summer, I'm going back to my hairdresser next week and having her cut it super-short again. I think my hair needs to be short, because it has absolutely no wave or body. It's just stick-straight, and especially (because of the humidity near the water?) where our summer cottage is, where we spend a lot of time, it will NOT do anything I want it to. I also think the "inbetween" style I have now is not stylish and at my age (44) my main goal with my hairstyle is to make me look cute, a little bit funky, and a little bit younger! NOT like a middle-aged mom. As far as products, I also love Bumble & Bumble products -- all of them -- and as is true for a lot of the more expensive products, you only need a small amount. I also have an Aveeda Pure Abundance shampoo that I love. I switch around a lot because I, too, am always looking for the miracle product. I do love the B&B hair spray because it holds without being too sticky or stiff....See MoreHair Dryer Recommendations?
Comments (28)Thank you all for your helpful comments. I looked online yesterday at several and planned a trip to Ulta after a meeting at a location nearby yesterday afternoon. I was all set to purchase a Conair, but wanted to try out several at Ulta. They still have their set-up where you can turn them on and feel the heat and speed. I probably increased the store temperature in that corner by 10 degrees trying out several at a time. I ended up with one made by Hot Tools, the Hot Tools Professional, for $42.99. I switched from the Conair after talking with someone and looking, feeling and testing. It was only a few dollars more and I had a $3.50 coupon, so the price wasn't really a deal breaker. The placard said it was good for fine hair, it has 3 heat settings and 2 speeds and a cool shot button, which I used a lot on my Chi. So did the Conair. The main difference was the weight and it seemed quieter. It is very light. Used it this morning and am happy. Funny, but my hair didn't seem to have those little frizzies around my part that I sometimes notice, even after getting out in the humid air. I asked the sales person about the brand and she said they get very few returns of that brand and if I wasn't happy after a few days I could return it. I did ask what brand seemed to be returned the most and guess what? It was Chi. I have to say, mine lasted at least 7 years. I took my old Chi to the lake and bought this one which is used every day, so I really can't complain....See MoreHair products for short hair
Comments (28)If you want the spiky look, then mousse would probably give you the finish you want. My hair has gotten some curl in it which tends to get unruly in the summer, so I've found "It's a 10" leave in conditioner which seems to control and add a lot of shine. I get the walmart equate version though. I figure if it's popular enough for walmart to copy it, it must be well received in general. This is me on vacation in ID, just toodling around...I also don't color my hair...never have and am delighted to not have to start...yet anyway. But short hair is wonderful. It takes me 30 sec to dry my hair and go. Last thing I want to do is complicate my life. Congrats on the new do!...See MoreBunny
