Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Wall color for half bath - has to work with the existing floor tiles

Hi there, I’m looking for suggestions on a wall color for a half bath. The existing floor tiles have some colors/ shading that floor appears more dirty that it’s actually is. What color of wall will work harmoniously with the floor tiles without emphasis on the floor. Many thanks in advance!

I would brighten up the bath with a creamy white!

Maybe a very light tan. I like Irish Cream from Sherwin Williams.

Do you have a separate Dining Room (this is where it would help if we saw the layout of the entire floor - both here and on Kitchens - not just the addition, the entire floor). I'm asking b/c if you do, you might consider making the table space a banquette and taking more space for the Powder Room. (Bench along the Powder Room and, possibly, "top" walls) Regarding the laundry - I'll be honest, I would not want my laundry anywhere where guests could see it - and putting it in the Powder Room means guests will definitely see it! It might help to build an enclosure around it - it would at least hide the washer & dryer, but it wouldn't help with any laundry sitting in the room - clean or dirty. Note that expanding the Powder Room may mean going with the narrower window (8'+ vs 10').

Hi again -- Lucky you, that's so easy to work around! With your shade of blush, I love the type of muted colors that Terrilyn posted above in her florals example. Obviously test away, but for me B&W and navy work better with brighter pinks. Since you like the idea of deep blue, I'd consider testing a rich indigo, dark slate blue, or, if you want to go brighter, what I think of as "Southwestern sky" along the lines of this: Here are a few more ideas, but they might be too muted for you. Some other deep blues/ purple-blues (and a soft vintage yellow) Pewter and cloud grey Muted red-violet/plum (see bottom right) or milk chocolate

Totally agree with the above posters: That's a super cool floor, and it needs to be allowed to shine. I'd go with a simple off-white or the above-mentioned pale yellow. You need a cool piece of artwork -- moderately large? -- to tie into the floor. This floor makes me think of Beauty and the Beast.

I like the original one you showed but I know its not everyone's cup of tea, so if you like it and when its laid the design in the boards is looked at it can be quite beautiful like the second picture I posted. This one looks very grey so that would change the color of the cabinets too.

Our bathroom tile is similar to your larger squares--when we moved in the room was painted a peach that accentuated the floor and made the whole space look pink. We repainted with BM Edgecomb Gray and it was the most transformational paint job I've ever done--it completely pulled the focus off the tiles and while I still eventually want to replace them, I don't think about it daily anymore. We did have to sample a dozen grays and creams to find the right one that would work with the floor, though (and everything else in our space is white, whereas you have the vanity and counter in play too).

A warm white is your only real option with those floors, countertop, and vanity. Add some artwork to the large wall so you have something else to look at when entering the room.

Huge thank you to everyone who replied. I’m super exited to try warm whites and cream. I will start with BM mannequin cream, BM Swiss coffee because I have these paints at home.. will post the results.

BM Swiss Coffee could be perfect. The Mannequin Cream is way too yellow.
