Wow, you guys who put regular kitchen sink in for laundry tubs are crazy if you ask me. If you really wanted something nice to put there then you should have gotten a resturant style stainless steel sink. Deep is the way to go and never have the washing machine dump it's water into the sink. Get a standing drain line for that so you can soak things in the sink without the water from the washing machine getting all over the place. (always make sure it's 2" pipe as well, anything smaller will back up) Hey, they aren't cheap but if you want it to look nice then go with one of these. Of course I would stick with the plastic laundry tub myself. Check the Lowe's and Home Depot web sites, search for a single-handle kitchen faucet made by Delta. Then put in your price range. The one we have in our laundry room is in the $50-$100 range on the search. The nice thing about Delta is that you can always get parts. Ours is 26 years old, and I recently had to have a $25 "kit" of some sort replaced inside the ball-and-joint part, where the handle rotates. That was waaay cheaper than buying a new faucet.

With my setup, I also don't have it in an insulated building with heat (live in South Dakota). The plumbing consists of a hose attached the the frost free hydrant on the other side of the building. It goes up over the door, around the side and then hooks into a 4 way valve with shutoffs. One goes has a hose hooked to it and goes to the spray nozel. Makes a great pot filler, and gives me the spray pressure needed to blast veggies and butchered things clean. The second vavle goes to the on-demand water heater. This is mounted so it's easy to take down and bring in the house for the winter. The third valve goes to the cold water side of the faucet in the laundry tub. This system has a grey water drain, which is OK where I am. I have a septic system so try not to run any harsh stuff into in anyway. Pinch-me, I have a four burner coil cooktop (under the cover the canner is sitting on). The lower height of the cooktop area is great for working with tall pots and the canners. This is a picture of the cooktop before I cut the desk down and moved it to the center of the room. I've been amazed at how great it is having this "out of house" work area. I'd encourage anyone in putting in a sink/work/cleanup area in a garage or shop. It's so nice not worrying about getting some peelings or drips on the floor while you are in the middle of things. However I insist my husband use a bucket when he's bringing in something that might leave blood drips on the floor. Stacyneil - could you install a frost free hydrant? The waterline is buried below the frost line and the actual shutoff is under ground also, so the hydrant itself never freezes (even when it about -20F out). That is what I have in the shed - No Way would I be bringing in the animal water containers into the house to clean in the winter, and I have a utility sink in the laundry room too.

Ok, that worked... Some more, Nearly completed installation. The shelf above the drying rod may or may not stay, it is loose fitted up there now. The cart is a 3 tiered wire cart from HD and I bought wheels off eBay. the counter is a approx 24x14" slate from The Tile Shop and adhered to a 3/4 ply that was painted at the edges to match. It just rests on top of the cart. I like it, not too heavy: Hansgrohe faucet from Costco I picked up several years ago, don't know if they still sell this one or not. this is the stream flow: This is the spray flow that reverts back to stream when you shut the water off. The sink had 2 holes on the deck but was for a bridge type faucet. So the plumber punched a center hole for the faucet, and we braced the deck with 2" treated lumber for stability. the hole to the left of the faucet is a soap dispenser. The bottle to the right is covering the other hole, that I plan to use as another dispenser. Or I could just cap it. We'll see. I could put liquid laundry soap in that one: My wall of washer/dryers: the sink is perpendicular to this wall at the other side of the shower that is at the left.
