Personally I think you can use any sink that you like. I went for more of a kitchen based sink that is sized in order to wash the dog. I really don't like the looks of some of the laundry tubs. So think about how you will use the sink. I would suggest that you put in a pull out spray faucet. That way you can fill up any buckets that are too big to get under the neck of a fixed faucet.

when we remodeled our laundry room, I went from having a free-standing tub to a built-in sink. I miss the depth of the tub, but it looked so nasty after a few years. I love the looks of my new sink, and its deeper than some, but not really deep enough to wash our border collie in it.

I have the standard plastic utility sink - Our laundry area is in the utility side of the basement which I recently remodeled - I made a fabric skirt for the sink to lessen it's cheapy industrial look.

Your spec sink is showing only 9" deep - a typical plastic one is 24" deep w/22gal capacity - I use mine for everything- arts/crafts, paint projects, soaking laundry, cleaning critter cages - There is always something in there. I don't have to worry about wear n tear & it can handle anything -

Pretty sinks are for the kitchen area, please think about what you will be using the sink for more than cosmetic looks.
My house did not come with a laundry/slop sink, so where did these people put their mop bucket?

I had a plastic sink installed in the garage with my 2 pair of laundry machines and I not looking for looks but for practical use. Think about long term and purpose.
If your laundry room is not going to viewed by the whole neighborhood, per say, in walking view between the kitchen and living room then get a sink that is deep as possible, you will not regret it.

Personally, I dump my mop bucket in the toilet or outside when I'm finished mopping, since I don't have a utility sink. However, I am looking at having a utility sink installed at the new house, for all of the purposes named above.

Wow, you guys who put regular kitchen sink in for laundry tubs are crazy if you ask me. If you really wanted something nice to put there then you should have gotten a resturant style stainless steel sink. Deep is the way to go and never have the washing machine dump it's water into the sink. Get a standing drain line for that so you can soak things in the sink without the water from the washing machine getting all over the place. (always make sure it's 2" pipe as well, anything smaller will back up)

Hey, they aren't cheap but if you want it to look nice then go with one of these. Of course I would stick with the plastic laundry tub myself.

A lot of these sinks can be bought used and you'd save a lot of money.

Hey, a restaurant-style stainless steel sink sounds great to me, for a number of reasons. Wish I had room for one in my laundry room. :-)

We just got a 17" by 14" Talavera sink on ebay for $54 including shipping(there are many available) - very pleased to have something so beautiful in a utility room - yes it's shallow, but I had no sink before, so this is a big improvement...our contractor will build a vanity around it; we'll tile the top...

Right now we have no utility sink, haven't had one for 6 years. I can't WAIT to have a nice utility sink again.

The laundry area is just past the main mudroom entrance, and it will be semi-visible from the kitchen/family room.... so having something nice looking in there would be preferable, but not mandatory. I like the idea of stainless steel....

Depth.... yeah, the deeper the better I think. The Kohler Hollister sink looks pretty awesome in terms of size, I wonder if you can install it into the countertop? Or does it have to be free standing? It's a bit unattractive free-standing, lol.... the river falls kohler sink also looks nice, but I'm thinking 14.5 inches really won't be deep enough....

I had never had a laundry room before we designed this house, so I was _thrilled_ to get one. I'd choose a different sink though now. The one I have is huge. It's a bit deep for comfortably doing hand laundry, though I can use a dishpan for soaking just one or two things. I wouldn't mind a bit more counter space in there, and could lose half of the sink without missing it. I'm not sure what the sink is made of, but it's a real pain to clean after dumping mop water in there. I wouldn't care except I want a clean sink for hand washing. Whatever this surface is, it doesn't wipe smooth like porcelain or ceramic.

Swanstone makes some deep sinks for the Laundry room. You need about a 30" base cab for the larger ones.
