@Debbi Branka I have no accents at all yet. Haven't purchased anything for the kitchen. Most of the those items will be out of view though. I think the only thing on the counter tops will be a few bowls and maybe a dutch oven. That's it. I like the idea of doing red, or even orange with some green. I guess I don't need to pick it right now. I just want it finished already. It's a major house reno that's been going on for a year now. I was considering just sticking a piece of tempered glass behind the range until I decide. Only thing is, I know myself- if I do that, I'll never get around to picking out the backsplash.. @Oaktown Brittanicca (hate that extra "c") and Ella are very similar. Reason I picked both is because the whiteness and pattern of Brittanicca looked very good with the white and high gloss of the cabinets. The Ella is more grey and just looked dingy in comparison. BUT, Ella looked gorgeous with the the soft grey of the island. Much more so than Brittanicca. What's interesting is, since there's something like 36" between the island and closest cabinet, you can't even tell they're different colors since you don't focus on both at the same time. Surprisingly, they worked extremely well together. I considered doing the brittanica as a backsplash but there's not going to be enough left from the second slab to do it. The other Brit. slabs are from different lots and I didn't like the pattern. I do like black knobs and originally wanted to get them. I'm still considering black and have a feeling I may go in that direction after everything else is done. Thanks for the pics, I really love the shelving in the second one- something I've been thinking about. Decided I'm gonna do it.

Hi there- well, it appears to me from your choices of the honed stone surface in a dark color (is that granite?), the industrial looking faucet, and the sleek chrome knob you chose that you're after a semi-contemporary look? All good together, and all make sense. The only suggest for the knobs for the cabinets is that instead of the polished chrome, maybe you want to go with a brushed metal surface that won't get fingerprints that show as easily? The same knob comes in a brushed metal--- it looks great. As to backsplash, that's super tricky because so much depends on whether you want a shiny surface that reflects light or maybe a more natural looking surface. Are you drawn to put a pop of color in, or do you want to remain more neutral? TMy choice with the dark counters and white cabinets would be a glass subway tile that's a translucent looking surface. I do not like the backsplash you have now for sure but I never like beveled tile son neither of those for me and I sure hope you are not going to do a accent behind the stove. You have a lot of stuff going on in that kitchen so I would do a nice simple larger format subway tile in a color that actually works with the counter.

Flemish bond is great for a floor or patio, not for a backsplash. Both SW 6155 Rice Grain (bottom) and SW 6154 Nacre (top) are yellows, although Nacre is classed as a pastel shade, so the tile color you're looking for is a cream that pairs well with your stone which is largely brown - shouldn't be hard to find. The tile below is Fireclay Tile in Ivory but you can approximate this glaze in almost any other tile. If you have the budget for it, consider a pretty shape. Your space reads young and joy filled. Consider something fun like a mini star and cross, or an ogee drop.
