Seedlings start blooming

The seedlings are usually the next ones to bloom after the early species. We had five seedlings blooming today but nothing to get excited about.

These two are siblings. The cross it Penny's Worth X Peas and Thank You. They are noteworthy only in they have a decent scapes and they are extra early. In fact, they were the first in the garden to show scapes (except for the early species).

This is a first time bloomer. We will bloom our first batch of diploids (except a few here and there in earlier years. This is Little Lemon Twist X Mary Ethel Anderson. Our experience is you get a lot of mud with dips.

This is a second time bloomer and it is terribly puny and ugly to boot. It is Buddy's Betsy X Gary Lynn's Calliopsis. The only good thing I can say about Buddy's Betsy offspring is that they are early bloomers.

Bob and I have gotten interested in black stemmed daylilies. We bought several black stemmed diploids this year and this is a tet with blackish stems. It is Heavenly Dark Knight. The flower is a brilliant red.

It will be getting exciting in the next few days here.
