I'm such a slub...what to wear other than capris?
Comments (68)Well, ladies...I went out and got a new pair of crop/long capri pants -- in khaki! Christopher Blue, a new line to me. So many of them didn't fit, but this pair did, so I thought of you all and went ahead and did it. Clearance at Nordstrom Rack : ) I tried Terri's skirt at Target but it really didn't do anything for me. I think I need more structure, rather than less now...although if I won the lottery, I'd dress year round in Eileen Fisher and never think about anything else. I LOVE that line, partly because she gives some of her attention to petites and doesn't write us off. I saw some crops in Eileen Fisher (which I can't afford for everyday wear), so I figured what the heck go ahead and try other ones on. I will definitely be aware and be more choosy than just getting any old capris/crops now, though. The Fibonacci site is a great reminder. And stinky, you made my day. An Amazon, hm?: :)...See MoreComfortable pants/capris for travel, walking, hiking
Comments (31)Before lizzard had even suggested the LL Bean pants, I had ordered them! And happy to report that they are fantastic. I actually had to order a size smaller because they were too big (love when that happens!). I also ordered a chino skirt from LLB that I'm very happy with. Finally, in my Zappos shipment, I received a skirt and casual dress from Horny Toad that I loooove. Both are in a jersey fabric that somehow does not cling to my less-favorable parts. And both are in a charcoal gray color that is nice, a little different from the usual black. For me, this process works better than the mall. I had free shipping from LLB, and I can return my rejects to the store about 15 minutes from here. Zappos is free shipping and returns. Still waiting for the cropped chinos I ordered from Garnet Hill... (Yes, I went on a bit of a spree!)...See MoreURGENT! Knee space for under counter seating?
Comments (13)I know I've said this many times in various posts, but if you want to be able to actually sit normally at an island/peninsula, you need the 15". 12" may be fine for people with short legs but it usually means you either have to sit sideways slightly or you "straddle" the island/peninsula to fit. Neither of which, to me, is comfortable for very long. We have friends w/a 12" overhang on their peninsula and I find it uncomfortable to sit for any length of time if I'm trying to sit at it to eat or talk to someone in the kitchen. It's not bad at parties where I turn the stool around so I'm facing outside the kitchen (i.e, sideways to the peninsula). My DH won't sit there at all b/c it's just too uncomfortable. We put in a 15" overhang which seems perfect for me and my DH only has to "straddle" a very small bit...3" doesn't seem like much, but it makes a big difference! If you don't have the room, you don't have it. But if you have it, I strongly suggest going with the NKBA recommendations (see link below). Here is a link that might be useful: NKBA: 9: Seating Clearance...See MoreShorts or Capris?
Comments (36)Neither usually. I have a couple pair of pants that I consider to be in between long pants and capris, but I only wear them every once in awhile. I really don't like the tapered leg capris, and rarely find them flattering on anybody, especially myself, LOL. I never wear shorts, but it doesn't get very hot here either. I almost always wear long skirts, in the summer or winter, or long pants....See Moresalonva
