It's like I can have my two items scanned and paid for before they are even done unloading, but do you think they'll let me go ahead of them? Personally, I often wave people behind me, ahead of me if I'm on the buy for a week trips and they have a few items, I just plain consider that common curtesy. Some days it's not just one person, but several, it sure doesn't kill me to have to wait a few extra seconds and let them go ahead of me instead of them waiting for me to finish a large transaction. I swear shoppers are the absolute rudest people. I remember being on crutches and trying to push a cart and someone actually knocking me down to get in the checkout lane before me. Want to talk about driving, how about the person who does not use turn signals? Kind of a running joke with me, I say, turn signals must have been optional on that model of car. But truth be known, it is not funny. Last week I was leaving a parking lot and the car ahead of me was a good 75% in the left turn lane and didn't have a turn signal on. I sat back and waited, wondering what to do since I was planning on turning right. I finally thought, well she is mostly in the left turn lane, so I moved in beside her in the right turn lane. OMG, big mistake, she laid on the horn something aweful and her passenger started yelling at me and giving me the finger. Of course the biach side of me was up for a fight, I sure didn't need this, wanted to tell her that if she wanted to turn right then get in the right lane and put on a turn signal, but the passive side of me won over, figured I didn't need a case of road rage and I backed off, let her go, but I am still steaming over the matter. Just kind of one of those things that bother me, if I am following you or before you, let me know which way you intend to go, it really isn't that hard to flip on that turn signal. I don't care if you are on a back country road or interstate highway, it's not that hard to flip on that signal. Come on folks, just lift that arm and hit the signal lever, won't give you blisters or crack a nail, take my word for it, it's really quit easy, lol....See MoreDon't read this, I'm just whining about a pet peeve
Comments (150)Lowspark - I love your widget. You have such lovely taste, You really do. However - just a tiny thought here (I have done a lot of decorating for my friends): Your widget placement bothers me. Could you possibly move your stove to the opposite wall? I'm thinking that the refrigerator which is currently there would look better closer to the sink anyway. Of course you'd have to remove the upper cabinet, but as you've said in another thread, the cab in your guest bath does need changing out. Then you could position your darling table against the empty wall. I'm wondering if the table should be pink, though. Could you repaint it? A cream paint with crackle-glaze would look lovely. Do you see where I'm going here? You could also repaint that wall - in a rich red, for contrast. Just thinking out loud here. Place the table against the wall, put your sweet widget on it, and that widget is going to pop! Then you wouldn't need so many hoo hoos, although I'd keep all the ding dongs. I don't suppose you'd change out your kitchen hardware to match the ORB of the widget, would you? Simply trying to be helpful (I am a decorator, of sorts). My rabbi agrees that if a widget is glass, it can definitely be kashered for Passover. But - not trying to be irritating - if the widget has plastic, it's never going to be kosher and also, it was made by DuPont, and we all know about them....See MoreList your Pet Peeves!
Comments (56)Hmm. It's not really an issue anymore, thankfully, but as a vegetarian, I have gotten annoyed when . . . (1) people read me the menu and point out vegetarian items. I am a vegetarian, not illiterate. (2) people think if a restaurant serves salad, then it's a good enough vegetarian meal. I'm hungry, people! Salad alone doesn't cut it! (3) people want to debate vegetarianism with me. I leave omnivores alone-- why do they care about my choice? In fact, I tell people (if they ask) NOT to be vegetarians, just to eat meat in moderation and/or buy free-range. IF they ask (really, it's when they tell me they feel guilty for not being a vegetarian), and never during meals. (4) people tell me I'm not really a vegetarian because I use milk products and free-range eggs. I try to explain veganism (that I'm not one!) to them but they don't get it. Actually, this only happened once, at a WEDDING (when I was discreetly eating my veggie entree) with a total stranger. So, not something ongoing. (5) people tell me they are vegetarians, but then order chicken, beef, whatever when we are out together. I mean, I do NOT CARE if someone is a vegetarian (I rarely discuss it), but why lie? The only reason I use a label ever is because it can be awkward when I am invited to dinner at someone's house and I haven't mentioned it....See MorePet peeves- now is your chance to vent!
Comments (53)*sigh* I am not alone. I've often wondered if I was just a cranky ol' b!tch because so many little things bother the crap out of me. thank you for the reassurance that there are others like me out there! And now, for my latest pet peeves regarding words. I am coming to detest the word Absolutely. I hear it everywhere, in every occasion. Did you watch Idol last night? ABSOLUTELY. I need to pick up bread at the store, want me to get you anything while I'm there? ABSOLUTELY. It drives me nuts. And the other one isn't new by any means, it's the use of the word Like. I was watching the Bachelor a couple of weeks ago, have never watched this show before. A couple of the women (don't know their names) was talking to the hunky guy and used the word Like about every fifth word. How could you stand to be around someone like that for the rest of your life? It'd be a deal-breaker for me. Then the next morning, listening to the radio on the way to work and the female announcer was chatting and ... Like ... had to say Like about every ...Like fourth or fifth word to Like ... get her whole story out it was Like ... hard to follow along because I would Like ... get distracted by her Likes. Oh, and the timing of commercials. I can't forget that one! Hubs and I watch TV while we eat ... now I know that's our own fault, but it really disturbs us to see commercials for Colon Cleanse, Stool Softeners, and other personal issues, while we eat! If these companies think that I will remember their names and buy them even tho they're offensive, they're wrong. I will remember their names and buy a competitor's product if I ever need to! Ooops ... and another one. Just reading the end of Cynic's up above me and that reminded me ... people who just will NOT tell you what they want to tell you without you having to pull it out of them. Geesh. Friend: I really screwed up. Me: What'd you do? Friend: I ran that report. Me: What report? Friend: The special report. Me: Well, what happened when you ran it? Friend: It didn't work. Me: WHAT didn't work? What happened????? and on and on and on. Just tell me the whole story please, without all the drama!...See More- 5 years ago
