Kiwi’s adventures are chronicled online at Diary of a Skinny Pig by her family. “Her name is Kiwi because it’s just a little bit fuzzy,” Rikke Hein Truelsen says. “The plus side of raising her is she doesn’t shed.”

18. Hungarian vizsla dog King Cashus, known simply as Cashus, is named after boxer Cassius Clay (who later became Muhammad Ali). Cashus, who lives in an updated 1900 Victorian in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, is pictured here resting in the guest bedroom on a gray upholstered chair from Las Vegas Market.
Cashus’ bed is in a personalized nook in the entry hall. His owners found that a tapered closet ceiling in the bedroom below this nook created an awkward shape that wasn’t ideal for storage. The toe kick below Cashus’ bed contains built-in storage.
The U, H, K and C hooks stand for “Utah House King Cashus.” Utah is the name of the street the home is on.

46. New York-based Mr. Miller, a 14-year-old chocolate Siamese cat, appreciates the beauty of vintage furniture. The coffee table came from a tobacco warehouse in Tennessee and was once used as a sorting table for grading the leaves. Bette Hestle of Golden Hill Studio shares how Mr. Miller came to live on her 100-acre property: “Mr. Miller just appeared in my barn one evening when I was feeding the horses. Ran up the driveway and into my arms and heart. Needless to say he never spent a night in the barn!”
