if the cabinets remain long term I would really change the gray wall color. It is making the cabinets look dirty yellow...and I dont think they are. The walls aren't really so hot w the flooring either.. You can pick from a variety of cream shaded counters and backsplash maybe in a shape if thats your instinct. But correcting things like gray paint should be done. You'll have a better chance for a great end result. A bit of butcher block to left of fridge would be a nice insertion.

Thanks for the paint thoughts. We changed it from a dark brown from the previous owners and it looks better in person. Not planning to change the paint, and a good backsplash will be between the cabinets and will affect the color comparison.

Maybe you need to decide which look you want: is it contemporary gray or traditional cream or rustic brown,? Then the whole concept will fall into place. Right now, you're trying to use all 3 styles in one room.

it gets down to budget. QUARTZ GRANITE OR CORIAN ARE ALL different pricepoints Quartz counters are fabulous but expensive. Based on your info provided I would create a palette [ inspiration board] and start with the most that could be done here....first .look at wood look vinyl planks for a new floor.....what do you most desire for counters ? will there be an overhang ? likely a subway tile backsplash .........look for a directional sconce above the sink for some detail .....re: those vinyl floor planks...they have many textures and shades to mimic wood looks...so if you start w something that interests you for a new floor [bring home samples] then the counter options fall in line much more easily. But again.....only you know the budget you have at hand. It looks like the floor will go beyond to the dining area w four chairs......so measure ....but I think the planks would really fit in w a bit more modern feel as you state.

since your floors are a reddish/brown, and the cabs cream, go for a neutral cream quartz, and bring in a patina green mcm type of backsplash. Think saltillo tile colors

Thank you for the suggestions! I like the pyramid backsplash. Not really into anything brown. If I change the floor it will be to real wood like the rest of the house. if you have plans on redoing the floor, you may want to do it before the tile.

some of the colors you've chosen may not look right w/what's there now.

I also see marble tiles. Carrara marble is a very blue/gray color. next to your off white cabs, it's going to look dingy. ditto the countertop. You've chosen a lot of blue gray colors. the exact opposite of that floor tone.

sage greens will look fine with whatever flooring.

Backsplash is last. just wait until the counters are installed.

I'd prob stay away from anything white if using a white quartz. If you want to use a light gray quartz, that could work. look at Silestone Eternal Serena or Desert Gray in the matte.

If I switched to a traditional oak wood floor like in the rest of the house, what warm colored quartz or backsplash would you recommend? I’m not really a fan of the greens or browns above, other than the pyramid tile perhaps.
