Need help to decorate my living room(basement)
Comments (14)yh. i thought about that sofa&bed solution but my bedroom is upstairs so i dont really need to go after that solution. a corner sofa would be defo great for that space dont you think? Another thing is that these wicker chairs are bought to be outside in the alley :) we bought them a couple of days ago. That space will be used to watch sports on telly and play games on the playstation and watching movies of course so i dont believe that chairs are a good solution to have here. A couch will be a better solution because i can stretch my legs out :D oh and when football's on we need more action and a little less conversation like the song goes :) I've got 2 computers. the one next to the stairs is an old one so i wont keep it. the other which is functional will be placed next to the WC door as you can see. i think there is enough space for an 1m desk and an office chair with wheels. I used to have a computer armoire but i hate them......See MoreFinished basement decorating - need help quick!
Comments (7)Nice pictures, fnmroberts! Thanks for your comments. We really, really want carpet. (Although I may come back asking about tile when we update the other part of our basement with the walkout - eventually want that to be more of a "mudroom" since it has the walkout and open stairs up to the kitchen - it's really separate from this part of the basement though) Thanks for your thoughts Jan. I thought about gold too, but wasn't sure how it would look with the furniture. Your descriptions sounds like my style though. I should clarify about the lighting - we have tons of recessed lighting down there. I don't think that needs any improvement (or really could be improved). However, I still think no matter how much lighting you have a basement is always going to have a darker or at least different feel because there is not much natural light, and I want to factor that into our decisions. Keep the ideas coming please! Any pictures anyone has to share are greatly appreciated! :-)...See MoreHelp my son decorate a basement apartment (cross post)
Comments (7)My brother had a basement apt. in DC too years back. He got a lot of stuff on sale, but what I remember liking most was the black and white photos in black or silver frames. Definitely get a lot of lighting, and my feeling is not to be afraid of some color in a dark space, just add enough lighting to offset it. To me, deep color in a dark space looks better than off white which ends up looking dingy. Here is a pic of my almost finished basement family room in RH Dusk, a mid tone denimy blue. Ceiling will be black, trim will be a light tan, floors are light and carpet is light. It feels very cool and cozy. We still need to do the ceiling, trim and add the overhead lights. All the furnishings were things we had. (The crazy lamps were bought at Target for $5 each and the rug was $125, it's wool and 8x10, from Home Decorators OUtlet!) (Excuse my clean laundry on the couch)...See MoreDecorate Newly Renovated Guest Bath?
Comments (14)Thank you so much for all of the kind words and helpful feedback! New bath mat, a couple of sprigs of greenery, and a wall art piece. Check, check and check. I was so afraid of the feedback because *internet* but turns out I had nothing to fear. I really appreciate everything you all shared. You're making this such a wonderful community. nhb22 the shower curtain is from Signature Hardware. I knew I wanted a long one for a more dramatic feel but didn't have the energy to find one to be custom made so my options were limited. They delivered on close enough to what I wanted though! tartanmeup thank you so much for your suggestions. Love them! I wasn't sure about what type of greenery to use, and an olive branch is totally the right move. I had small banana leaves in my head but something about it seemed off. morz8 love the adds! I had some of the guest stuff tucked away like nail files, q-tips, cotton balls, even deodorant and hand sanitizing wipes, but not the meds, magnifying mirror, or band-aids. Definitely going to add those! You're really right about the wall art. Need to figure that out....See MoreUser
