Front Elevation Help! Pics please
Comments (39)Let me tell ya. Sometimes it's hard to take in what people comment, but it could save you in the long run. We had plans picked out, posted photos of our land and the possible home. Got many NO's! The house would look wrong where we are building. We took it- thought about it and they were right. So we changed it all together and now love the new plan and we are just now getting siding on. So take a deep breath and double read what people post before letting emotions take over and get upset over it. I took Renovator8's post as he was giving you a description of what Neo eclectic meant. Not totally saying that's how he felt about your plan. Anyways-- you ultimatly have to live with whatever you build. Go with what feels right and enjoy the process....See MorePlease help pick an elevation
Comments (47)The view is the bay window! Plant some lilacs outside...what's not to like? :) Seriously, a little 'side garden/courtyard' look would be really pretty. A few flowering shrubs, some fall color, maybe a smaller lilac (love lilacs and they're purple!) The window seat picture is for the youngest girl's bedroom in front. That's supposed to look like your triple window over the garage. Maybe cabinets on both sides? Also, this is more decor than building....but if you aren't going to have windows above the bed...what about fairy lights that are also flowers, during the day? I would do some of these in MY room, but I don't think my husband would be a fan. LOL Maybe in our sunroom?...See Moreexterior elevation design help
Comments (15)Why do you want a powder room backing your dining area? If you have kids, they most likely will not enter from the garage and then neatly move to the left to put their books/shoes/coats etc away. Ask me how I know? Your better bet would be to move the garage door so you walk through the mudroom so they have to pass their cubbies, etc. I would very strongly suggest you get rid of the angled corner for the sink. One angles cost more to build and two a sink in the corner does not usually work well. Ask me how I know? I would also suggest that you vet your kitchen design in the kitchen forum. It could be better designed for functionality. How will you get large items into your bedroom since you have to turn a corner to get into the bedroom? Why are there so few windows to let light into the house? Which direction is north?...See MoreHelp - Traditional or Modern Tudor Exterior? Pics of Elevations
Comments (20)Decorate for the house you actually have, not the fantasy house that you don’t have. Notice I didn’t say “Design”. Design for this was a year ago, and didn’t involve anything Tudor. Design is Form. The bones. Your Form is set, and the basic Form is not Tudor. It does have a lot of nice Modern simplicity going for it. Simplicity that would be best served by a single cladding material, however that might be achieved. And a redo of the copper roof to achieve a more modern and simple direction. It’s ornateness is a jarring element against the rather more severeness of the body. Severity in this case is a good style direction. Bringing on late in the game decoration that isn’t at all part of the design form will look even more unnatural and overblown. Like Mario Buatta set loose in Phillip Johnson’s Glass House. Dont do this.... To This.....See MoreMark Bischak, Architect
