Wanna See My Yard?
Comments (13)Thank you for your detailed answer, Sierra. Yes, I would love to see pics of your garden, as I'm sure the others would. You can post them in our gallery side, so as not to overburden the discussions side of the forum for those of us who don't have broadband access to the Internet. As for what grows in a zone 10, well, it depends on the zone 10 - Florida and Portugal, though technically both in zone 10 have different growing conditions, with Florida being mostly tropical (warm and humid, especially in the Summer months) and us being hot dry Mediterranean (even though I can also grow many tropicals here). For a sample of what grows well for me, have a look in the gallery for a thread called "Will you walk into my parlour?" which features my garden this month. If you follow the photobucket link on my album up to the root you can then find my other garden albums, showing the garden in just about every season of the year. That should give you an idea about what I can grow. My garden revolves basically around roses for Spring interest and then Fall and Winter interest. Summer is the tricky bit here, due to the drought and heat. As for roses, I'm mostly interested in antique roses, even though I also grow a few modern ones. My personal favorites that do exceedingly well in my climate are the old teas (NOT hybrid teas) and chinas. I love to hear that you also grow roses in a zone 2, although of course they have to be very hardy, such as the Explorers. Eduarda...See MoreOT: wanna see my MBR cabinets? (Many pics)
Comments (15)Thanks, Bellsmom! I wish I could do that myself. I have MBR pics, but they're espresso maple in a dark bathroom. They're also a neat combination of cabs. :) And everyone for the compliments! I'm really happy with how they're coming out. It might take me forever to paint or stain, but in the meanwhile everything's going in them instead of boxes piled against the wall. I actually find the skinny, 4-drawer drawers useless. That's why I originally ordered 3-drawer. My plan, someday, is to do what I did with the (extra) cabinets in my MBR. I took out two drawers and one set of drawer glides. I cut out the face frame and put in a single deep drawer. Like the big ones on the 3-drawer. Then, I attached the drawer fronts back onto the big drawer so it looks just like it started. Deeper drawer are much more functional than 2.5" deep drawers. Now I can put stuff actually in them. With 18" cabinets, the drawers can only be 15" deep. Need all the space I can!...See MoreWanna see Jude31's birthday present?
Comments (18)Like a couple of others here, I had no idea of what this was about. So I followed their lead & went to 'conversations.' I am astounded! ! ! Wonderful progress in such a short time! Congratulations, Bob and Judith! That definitely IS a fantastic birthday present. It brought tears to my eyes. You are both now in my thoughts and prayers. Comments (26)cindy, here is a picture of the cabs above my range: The door to the left is as low as it can go, and is 1/4" higher than the double doors in the middle. The rightmost "door" is actually a fixed end panel, and is under 1/8" off from the doors in the middle. No way to line them all up. Note that the bottoms of the cabs flanking the hood are perfectly aligned, so this is not an installation problem. A closeup of the left transition (please overlook my GC's attempt at using filler pieces): The drawers in the island have some major variation (5/16") also, but it could probably have been fixed if we or the GC had noticed it before the pulls went on. :( In Starmark's defense, I did not call this to their attention, so gave them no opportunity to make it right. Remodel fatigue -- I decided to live with it, and I don't notice it anymore. allison, those pendants are Pottery Barn. They originally came with chains, but I really dislike chains for pendants, so my GC replaced them with the fabric-covered wire....See Morehounds_x_two
