Thanks for the positive feedback on the teriyaki tacos, and for the eggs and salad for breakfast I posted earlier. Recent meals: Chinese okra done with an Indonesian flair - contains scrambled eggs, Chinese chives, been sprouts and so forth. Chinese okra is not really okra, but in the curcubit family, and tastes very mildly of cucumber. Naturally slime-free. Chinese okra looks like regular okra on steroids - see the second photo. Mini lamb sliders on a bed of lettuce and watercress. I seasoned the sliders with salt, pepper, garlic, turmeric prior to shaping. True okra, done Paleo style: I used coconut flakes to batter them with. There are recipes that use ground almond, but I've developed a sensitivity to many tree nuts. To make them less fat-centric, I also baked them rather than deep frying. I also tested out a way to remove the slime: slice them in half lengthwise, and make sure they are dry when you go to batter and cook them. (Rinse them earlier and allow them to dry.) Here's my offal moment: lamb sweetbreads, with bell pepper, onion, and topped with capers and scallions. Seasoned with lemon, thyme, salt, pepper, garlic. I'm sure this one is not going to be on most people's priority list, but we grew up with offal long before it became "trendy", so I never developed the "ick" factor reaction. (Why I have that reaction to cottage cheese, I just don't know!) Sleevendog, those artichokes look wonderful! (one of my favorite veggies, up there with asparagus!) As well as the miso noodle bowl! Annie, I like a good chili... sounds like a hearty good meal. Innumerable great meals on this thread!

More mouthwatering meals here! All the kale lately! Neely, I’ve never eaten barramundi, but any fish with crispy skin works for me! Your lamb curry looks fantastic – the whole plate looks delicious (I’m very envious of your lamb!) I think you'll be happy with a colorful maple, they are such nice trees. Then there’s Annie’s salmon with her salsa I so want to try, and salmon cakes – those look tasty. It’s your smoked chops and apples I really want… : ) Annie, I think 8 gallons of cider is too much for your family to try to drink… my address is… : ) Gosh I love homemade cider! I made it one year and we left a pitcher out – 6 hours later we were pretty happy! Had no idea it could go hard that fast! But cider syrup? That’s new to me. I’ll take some of that too please! Happy belated Birthday to Princess : ) Lucky young lady to have that orea cheesecake! I think I can almost taste it… Sooz, kale and lobster? That’s too decadent… no, wait, not too. Just right! What is it about lobster and avocado that just seems luxurious?! Yum! Cookebook, Great looking jambalaya! DH once said he couldn’t stand shrimp… until I made jambalaya : ) Good friend is from “Lawziana” and taught me jumbo, but I dumb it down to reduce the throat burn : ) Your penne and sausage looks so, so good too – must be cold where you are? Fantastic cold weather dishes! Thanks all for letting me continue to post here, though I don’t contribute. We did have the bean soup – with thick cut bacon and some tomato based stock, that I poofed. Also some raw carrots, broccoli, and celery. Store bought Texas toast, and I found some Colby/Jack cheese that I’d cold-smoked earlier, in the fridge! Not a bad night’s meal : ) But that’s been a while ago, and it’s been fast food salads mostly. If someone makes a veggie soup you might find DH and I on your doorstep : ) If you make it with any kind of beef, we’ll be spending the night : )

I buy bulk seed and the coir. Sometimes five lbs seed at a time.Coir 20lbs. My Johnny's order came in last night...two days. free shipping (might still be available this weekend). True leaf is good. I only order 2-3 times a year. I know now what I like and make my own blends and the bulk of my salads are fast growers... I got confused with Harris seed and 'Heritage' last November. I ordered from Harris November 23rd, back ordered, ...they took my money and I still have not received the seed. (it was for Christmas gifts and a charity event macro kits). grrr. They finally responded after three e-mails. Still back-ordered but still listed in their catalog. I've gotten so used to seed suppliers listing 'backordered' on their seed listings I totally missed that one. Finally an e-mail that they are waiting on their supplier, then a germination test, then they will send...might be three months+ after ordering.

Nice. And yes, take it out of your water bath and rinse under your sink cold water faucet. Fresh water every day or when you think of it...three days is ok but the water gets funky. Half your amount of water is best. Just the very bottom needs water. Every time I change the water I give the root a nice rinse. I just started another yesterday as well as a fennel bulb end. Plenty of time. Not affected by early Fall frost. One of my early celery plants is about 4 feet tall and went to seed. Pretty plant in my herb bed. Take the big outer stalks off. Then next week a few more. Leave just a few when planting unless they are rotty soft. The plant really has no use for them. I'll post a pick of the fennel if it does well.
