My rooster's snapped. What's wrong with him?
Comments (11)I've noticed with my birds that they are little fashion police and actually object to certain articles of clothing we wear. Certain hens take exception to my husband's bathrobe, while one of my dresses and several pairs of pants cause them to either freak out or run from me--the dress and the pants are all patterned, by the way. Does your mom tend to wear the same housecoat, jacket, etc. when she goes outdoors? A certain pair of boots? Whatever the cause, I'd say he's a lost cause if he's flinging himself at the windows to get at her. Time for a new roo. :( Roberta, the 'Taming A Rooster' method isn't mine, the credit for that technique goes to Shagbark Bantams. But myself, Shagbark and many others have reported success with it, and NOT just with the person doing the taming. Not with EVERY bird, to be sure, but when it works, it works. If you have a batch of mean roos, I'd suspect additional issues such as too many roos to too few hens, overcrowding, breed characteristics, etc. Velvet ~:>...See MorePets Telling You That Something is Wrong?
Comments (22)LOL Nancy! Your dogs sound just like my Jas-purr! Our cat Nikita always knows when DH is about to return home - he could be gone on a business trip for two weeks. She starts rolling around in the doorway about 15-20min before I see him at the gate. It's not the sound of his car; he always takes a cab home from the airport. She started 'chattering' one afternoon while I was reading a book - it was different from the sound she makes when she sees birds. She led me into the guest bedroom and I realised I'd forgotten to switch off the iron; maybe she saw and heard the steam and decided it wasn't 'normal'. Once she 'told' me I'd forgotten to put the washing machine water outlet into the washbasin - there was water all over the bathroom floor. Niku loves water and enjoys her baths but somehow found this incident 'different'. Of course we got the plumber to fix the outlet so that it never happened again :) She alerted me to an injured pigeon in the balcony; when I brought it inside she kept sniffing it and sounded very concerned about it - while all the other brats saw in my hands was a snack. The brats had been eyeing the poor bird with glee but only Niku thought of letting me know abt it. This gal is definitely special. The other four cats don't seem to have anything but crazy-kitty-games going on in their wee lil brains LOL...See MoreWhat could be wrong with my "my monet" PIX
Comments (3)Two days later. Any more thoughts now? Watering system not a problem as far as emitters or pressure. Only difference in placement is that this one is on the point. No evidence of tunneling creatures. Good. 1 of the healthy plants in picture 3 above. Not so good. Same hurting plant as above in pictures 1 and 2. Needs more water????...See MoreWhat is wrong with my tomatoes! My first year planting them.
Comments (9)It may grow past the damage. Or it may not. I personally would eat the fruit they produce--others may have a different opinion--but the badly damaged ones may not produce fruit or only produce a small amount, and it may be stunted. The brown spot on the tomato in the first picture looks like damage from rubbing against the cage. Such damage is no big deal unless a mold or something takes the opportunity to start rotting the fruit or it attracts the attention of a pest. EDIT: For future, maybe you can put your plants somewhere else on your property. If not, maybe you can talk to your neighbor and come to some kind of agreement or you can offer to pull his weeds by hand/hire a neighborhood kid to pull his weeds by hand or something, depending on what problem he's trying to solve....See Moreannztoo
