Replacing hardwood with engineered

Jackie

We just purchased my grandmothers home. I’m having a bit of a flooring dilemma. Here is the situation:

- Half of the house is original red oak flooring (2” wide x 0.5” thickness)

- the other half is pink tile that is being removed

- the pink tile half is the kitchen/dining area and it steps down into a small living room with a concrete subfloor

- the pink tile meets with the original wood and is the center Of the home and can be seen from most areas

My problem is that most manufacturers only make red oak 2.25” wide x 3/4“ thick so the flooring would not flow together. I also could not (Should not) install it on the concrete.

I found a good deal on Rosun 1/2“ thick engineered wood with a 4mm top. It is also a wide plank in a color I like.

Do I replace all flooring with engineered flooring in a color and style I love? I guess I feel guilty ripping out perfectly good hardwood. I would prefer if all the flooring flowed together.
