So doesn't anyone think panels would look good? My neighbor thought they would look nice and the Ethan Allen decorator agrees, I was really just hoping someone had some creative ideas as to how I should hang them. I do agree that 4 panels might not look right because of the different size windows. I really don't think the upper windows will be a problem as there is enough wall space separating them. So if you were going to hang to panels, how would you do it? I would love some pictures for inspiration.

I would make a cornice out of foam insulation board or plywood in the arch shape. I'd paint it to look like a road with a double white line in the center and attach something car-related--red brake lights for example along the arch and hang curtains as daisyadair has described.

If you like Romans, take a look at jcp.com. They have some double romans (I got Spencer II) so there is a sheer behind the light-filtering shade, operate independently. The cords can be a hassle (2 sets) esp. on the 72" long ones I got for my slider. But on normal windows they're OK. I really liked the "double Roman shades" they had last year (no name) for my BR, DR, and study, but they don't seem to have the same ones. The headrail was slightly different from the Spencer II. I think the last time I visited the website they might have had a new (Jackie?) roman that might have been a double too, in an ivory color that might look nice in your kitchen. HTH. Sheers down

My expertise is selling real estate, not interior design. To me, the function is most important then style. You have very beautiful wall of windows, and it is great to step out onto the deck out of the bedroom surrounded by the trees. Roman shades would look good, and provide privacy when needed, and you may retract them when you want light. Not sure about the door though. May be it could work as well. Another option is wood blinds. We have off white painted wood blinds and love them.
