One LONG mirror or two?
Comments (7)Our old bathrooms had huge mirrors that spanned the entire double sink vanities. When they were taken out during renovation, it was a HUGE difference and not necessarily in a positive way. The lighting in the room changed and they seemed much smaller. We didn't replace either one. For the kids bath, we installed a tower between the sinks, tiled a 24inch backsplash and used 2 mirrors that I purchased at target. Meh. Not a fan of the cheap mirrors and the space seems smaller. We have 2 large recessed medicine cabinets in the master.. no frame or beveled edge. Really love those and don't miss the large mirror because there's pretty glass mosaic instead. With your large vanity, you could definitely use a large mirror and it would look great. The double mirrors do look nice in the pics above but IMO you would have to find some pretty large mirrors for a 10 foot vanity....See MoreWould you rather have one larger island or two smaller islands?
Comments (9)We are in the midst of building and our cabinets just went in. We have two islands. The inner island is the prep island with a sink. The frig, cooktop and ovens are all within a step or two. The outer island is the entertainment/clean-up island. It has the dishwasher, single bowl sink and accesses the drawers where our dishes will go. There are also three seats at the raised bar. The idea for us was to have a zone for me to cook uninterrupted when we have company over, but still be open to anyone getting something to drink or setting the table or just visiting. We originally planned for a U with an island, but turned it into two islands instead for better flow. You can't see from this angle, but there's a command center where I'm standing taking the picture, with a large walk-in pantry right next to it. There's a hidden walk in pantry behind the dark cabinetry. Comments (12)okay... this makes sense. the drawer arrangement is sort of busy and the idea of interior dividers is a good one. In the last house our drawers were 24" wide and I found it difficult to keep thing organized especially the smaller items like measuring cups, ramekins, tupperware lids, things like that. i think with the bank of two drawers I'd be likely to go back to inset which i really do love more than full overlay. thanks for your feedback. always so appreciated by me!...See MoreCombining two large rugs to make one huge one?
Comments (17)Thanks again everyone for all the helpful tips! I'll stay away from Jute for sure now even though I like the look of it. Seagrass could work well for the decor but I'm concerned about one spot ruining the whole thing (pet) where a pattern can hide things better. Extra thanks for the mention of Joss & Main - their search engine for rugs is much better than all the others and prices seem good but sometimes better on Overstock and other places. Most places make you work very hard to see a size/price combo when all you want to see is the biggest sizes....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
