Anyone wear glasses, then you know how expensive they are, right?
Comments (30)The only thing I noticed is that I can't really read with my progressive sunglasses on inside. Now they are sunglasses, not transistions as my DH says so I shouldn't expect too. I have the 80% shading and it doesn't allow enough light in so my pupils don't do what they are supposed to for reading. So I do have to switch glasses back and forth but I was having to anyway with just the clip ons by removing them. It is just a pain when you run it to pick up something and back out in the sun again. It would be the case even if I had ordered them from a local place. Otherwise I love them and I am considering ordering a regular pair of progressives from them to have on hand in case mine break. Definitely worth the effort to gather all the info and to go through the maiing process....See MoreWhat do you Wear When You Garden?
Comments (28)I wear old jeans and t-shirts unsuitable for anything else. I rarely wear shorts as I cannot stand dirt at the back of my knees. Also always a baseball cap. I try to remember the sunscreen too but sometimes forget. I usually carry a bandana around to wipe my eyes if I get sweaty(which I do ). I wear last years hiking boots on my feet and always with socks. My pruners are clipped to my jeans in a holster, my pocket knife in my pocket and a pencil behind my ear. I try not to lose my gloves but it happens often. In fact I lost my right glove in the front yard and my left in the backyard on Sunnday! My mom came home from dinner and found them. I don't need sunglasses, my bifocals have transition lenses. I also use a kneeling pad for my bad knees. I tried the ones you wear but found the straps to be uncomfortable at the backs of my knees. When I worked landscaping for a living 20 years ago I had several sunscreen shirts. They were pricey but very nice. I have since not only aged but also expanded and they went to the goodwill years ago. My neighbors all think I'm a little off anyway when I'm talking to my flowers or out at the crack of dawn pollinating. So it dosen't really matter how I dress.LOL! Comments (37)I work in a high-tech company where most everyone is in their 20s and 30s. I'm a good 15 years older than anyone in my graphics team, including my manager. Ouch. As such, I really try not to dress in anything that might draw attention to my age. I try to be current without being trendy. And because I work closely with the officers and upper management of the company I have to look professional at all times. This means sensible tops, jackets, jewelry, slacks and pumps except on Casual Fridays when I wear a nice pair of jeans and a sweater or comfortable top. T-shirts are not allowed in our group, even though we are considered the "artsy, creative" kind who often throw caution to the wind when it comes to fashion. Comments (31)I do dress for gardening because I have to go somewhere to do it (not just step out of the door) So I expect to have to put in some hours, either at the allotment or wood or at my few remaining customers) so yep, I have separate gardening clothes to non-work clothes...but not really any different, just grubbier. Tweed. Quite a lot of it. And stout leather shoes or boots. It will be a dark, dark day before I suffer either jeans or trainers UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Or T-shirts for that matter. Or especially shorts. Just because it's a bit wet, cold or muddy, doesn't mean style has to go out of the window...and anyway, I find that wool hacking jackets and linen shirts(for summer) or my handknitted jumpers,(winter) improve with age and wear. I don't wear wellies or coats either (shapeless, horrible and cold). I don't really like wearing trousers but I do put up with leather ones for winter. I have several pairs of leather pants which I have worn for many years. Every winter, I am always somewhat cheered that another year has gone by without my bottom increasing in girth - although, tbf, leather, especially old, saddlesoaped and oiled leather, has a certain flex which is forgiving on my thunder-thighs. I always wear a hat (whether I am gardening or not) because I like them. Hats, that is. In summer, I tend to wear loose cotton frocks. And leather shoes. I never, ever garden in sandals., no matter how hot..and as for bare-feet...just no. I make a lot of my own clothes so I can use durable fabrics and include capacious pockets. I have a gardening neighbour at the allotment who has been wearing the same black and grey striped sweater for over 20 years....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
