Hi! These are both great options. However the shiny does allow the sink to match when the light is on. The glossy tile also provides a contrast to the tone seen throughout the countertops and cabinets when the light is on but then becomes cohesive when the light is off! It's a nice mix of the two! The matte tile does provide a dimension if that is something you desire from the backsplash! Hope this helps! Best of luck!

While I love my matte white backsplash...in your case I would choose the glossy. The matte will blend right in...cabinets follow countertop follow backsplash follow upper cabinets. You need to have something different to break it up, if you are set on these colors, then the shine will do it.

The matte has a much more expensive look.

Another vote for the shiny; and I love the depth of it as well. The matte is too match-ey match-ey for me with the other flat surfaces.

And I agree with @Kingston Brass - added bonus that it pulls your sink into the mix when the lights are on!

I love the shiny, it reflects and bounces off a lot of the natural light coming through, bringing in even more wonderful lightness and appeal. Have you thought about painting the lower drawers a creamy off white or earth tone olive or ... if bathroom whitewash a hue of color and add lighting such as

At first look I say the matte but really either is fine. May I ask what color your cabinets are and where did you get those tiles? My kitchen will have the same colors.

Both look great with lights off. How often will you realistically have the lights on? Choose whichever your gut likes the best.

I love my bright white 3x6 subway tiles, with Artic Bright White Grout, You quartz looks almost like ours, we have under counter lighting, 5k, and it provides beautiful lighting and highlights the beauty of the counter tops and back splash. 100 percent happy with our choices.

either one is fine, but I don't like the liners w/the matte tile.

if you're that concerned about the white light, drop down the bulb temp to a 3200K. it will put off a slightly warmer tone.

The matte tiles have a nice understated textural look..which I think adds a more interesting touch than the shiny slightly brighter white...

They are both very nice. To me it comes down to what feel you want the kitchen to have. Prefer shiny, clean, bright, cool? Pick the glossy. Prefer warm, inviting, natural? Pick the matte.

Shiny tiles...adds some pop to the matte cabinets.

Thanks all for the comments! I found one other shiny one that I'm considering as well- Portmore by Tilebar. Wish it didn't have quite so much variation, but wondering if it adds a bit more contrast than the other two. Any thoughts on how this one in the middle compares to the two others?

I cant see a reason for the “randomness” variation of color ,either...as to shiny bumpy finish...🤷🏼‍♀️

I dont know...I’m kind of liking the Portmore. I love the style, and I think the shade variation might work well with your countertop veins and the ORB fixtures. IMO, it ties everything together...but in a calm, understated manner.

We don’t really know how much backsplash you have...or whether your kitchen needs the oomph from a flashier splash?...and the shiny bumpy ones might be considered more trendy..less timeless

I was considering the Portmore prior to purchasing my Cloe tile. I still am thinking about using it in one of my bathrooms. I think it’s a very pretty tile.

The Portmore looks like there is so much variation in photos online. Is it really like that in-person or is it much more subtle, as hoping that's the case?

becky, order a few samples. I think you can also find that line under IvyHill on Wayfair or Home Depot. If you do, order a box through Home depot. if you don't like it, return it.

or, you get 5 free samples on Tilebar for $5. order 5 full tiles. or call them and ask about the variation. I don't think it's going to be that different. not like some of the Zellige tile variations.

Portmore is V4 variation, which means there is quite a bit of variation. This variation is more apparent if you look at the non-white Portmore colors. Personally, I think it would read too busy, and would draw the eye away from your pretty countertops.

atlbeardie thanks for Sharing that. I have worried that might be the case. In person it doesn’t seem too varied but everyone’s photos look much more varied than I want. any idea if there are any other brands that Are similar but with almost no variation or very minimal? If not, maybe I’m best sticking with the white matte tile instead. Any thoughts on that one?
