Ready to redo the bedroom

I'm getting a new bed frame from Pottery Barn and will need to get bedding for this new king size bed. This is a lake house with a craftsman feel. I was going to change the paint color but then when I researched, this color is still "in". I'd like to keep the red end tables but could replace. I'd like to keep the painting and definitely the lamps. Color scheme ideas from there for the bedding?

PS I also have a large dog that likes to be on the bed so white is not possible. the pillows are from the old bed.

IMO the night tables are too small scale for a king bed. If you like to sit up and read in bed I would not do a fabric headbord unless it is really tough and can withstand washing often As for wall color IMO you choose bedding ans that drives the wall color but in this case that color is quite neutral so look for bedding that has a least a bit of that color in it. I like the art but not the lamps . The art needs to be hung lower IMO

You have to find something that you like. I also have a dog that enjoys sleeping on the bed.

I like to shop for bedding at Touch of Class https://www.touchofclass.com/

and because of my dog and the need for frequent laundering I specifically look for fully quilted bedding that won't end up with the batting all bunched up. I have had a few 5+ years that have been laundered over and over again.

Start with the hardwood floors so you know what color you're working with. Update your light near the door and change the fan to a new chandelier. Then think about what colors you are drawn to, that coordinate with the rest of your home. Choose your furniture and rug before you decide on wall color. I'd look for a bed with a tall headboard that doesn't require a bedskirt.

First thing is to think about your different guests‘ needs and consider short and longer stays. For example, I like to put my clothes into a dresser if staying for more than one night. Will a desk really be needed and if so, look for something multifunctional to rest other items on, to store towels/extra blanket, or to store their clothes if not adding a dresser. What about a bench at end of bed for older guests, adding a mirror, and suitable window trestments, etc. Look at lots of guests rooms on Houzz and Pintetest to help with considerations. In regards to your room’s decor, bedding will make a huge difference. I think adding something over the headboard will make it too busy; it makes its own statment, especially when layered bedding is added. Given the size of nightstands, I’d leave the surface for their usage (phone, glasses, etc) and look for solar or battery operated sconses. Suggest holding off buying accessories until you have a design vision for room from a visual and practical perspective.

I would use a deeper shade of the blue-green color that is on your walls and in your artwork for the bedding. Or keep it simple and use a textured cover in a deeper shade of beige from the new bed.
