What wall color with B&W toile bedding?

Getting ready to redo bedroom and found a lovely black & white toile comforter with stripe bedskirt. Trying to find a nice soft color for the walls. This is an attic bedroom with the type of slanted walls which require the walls & ceiling be the same color, so nothing too dark. Heck, I even thought of Queen Anne Pink but not sure if my manly DH could handle it. If any of you gals have black & white toile in your home, would love to see pics and seriously need suggestions for wall color. Thanks a bunch!

Was going to suggest BM Saybrook Sage, but that may be too dark for your room. Would be lovely, though, with the toile.

A pale smoky aqua blue would be great. Any washed out color is nice with black and white toile. A very pale lemon yellow or lavender would also be nice (and a little less girly for your dh)....

What luck that I checked the thread... I wish this forum sent email notifications on replies! Thank you both for the compliments; I am loving the bathroom now that we've been living with it for a little while. The vanity is a Pegasus Laguna, and we ordered it from Home Depot (it is available elsewhere as well). It is not that dark in real life; it's a medium cherry, very pretty. We did not use the mirror that came with it since we wanted a medicine cabinet. As for the rest, in case anyone is interested: the faucets, towel bars (not pictured), and wall-mounted soap/toothbrush holders (love those) are Moen. Curved shower rod: BB&B. Subway tile: in stock at HD (Victorian cap was special ordered from local tile company that happened to carry the same brand). Floor tile: Am. Olean (in stock at Lowe's). Sconces: the only ones at the lighting store that would fit in the space between mirror and wall and allow mirror to open. Tub: Americast (because it looked better with the tile than fiberglass, and our renovator begged me not to make him put in cast iron -- husband was not too excited about iron either). Toilet: Am. Standard, and let me just say that for a not-cheap toilet it came with a mighty cheesy plastic seat and really cheesy looking handle, so I replaced both of those with better looking ones (pictured). And let me also just say that I can't believe I have turned into the kind of person who cares what my toilet handle looks like. This was a to-the-studs total renovation due to floor rot and damaged wall tile and all that good stuff. A great improvement in function as well as looks. And a heads up for anyone else with a house of this age: our original wall tile tested positive for lead on professional evaluation; DIY test was negative.

In our master bedroom we have RH's Silver Sage on the walls -- and use Ralph Lauren's Sussex Gardens comforter and shams in the summer months. Nice colors for the warmer months! Here's an older photo of our summer bed -- I do have a collection of satin comforters -- so I fold a green one or an orange one at the bottom of the bed. And the lady-in-green portrait moves into the living room for the summer now -- and another artwork lives above the bed! :)

I think it all depends on your style--so many colors look great with black/cream toile. You could do red, hot pink, lime green, soft sage, yellow, pale blue, gray. Is there a color you are leaning towards? A look?

YIKES! Dkass, in light of your problem , I'm a little hesitant to even ask for an opinion about mine. I empathize with your issue...my kitchen remodel has suffered delays. This is my first kitchen remodel. The marble top was installed with the faucet holes drilled incorrectly. The fabricator will deconstruct the current top and install a new top next week. We are currently in discussion about the placement and distance of the faucet holes. As a result, I'm questioning everything to the nth degree...now, the gap bewteen the wall and slab. Here it goes...We have a .25" thick subway tile for our backsplash. This is in reference to the top that is currently in our kitchen. To minimize a wide gap between the wall and slab, the installers had to "cheat" a long run of two connected slabs closer to the wall. The results...starting from the left of the slab and ending at the right of the slab, the gap between the slab and wall gradually increases from approximately .125" to slightly more than than the thickness of the tile. There is approximately three feet where the gap is the thickness of the tile and approximately two feet where the gap is slightly thicker than the tile. The adjustment in the slab did not make a noticable change in the overhang. The fabricator used a laser system to template, so I'm surprised to see this variation. I am tiling and this is my first experience with a wall installation. I think the difference in the gap will be coverd with the tile + mortar and caulk. BUT...Is this variance in the gap between the wall and slab within the tolerances of stone top fabrication? Should I even worry about this gap? Should I consider having the fabricator come out and remeasure? Any suggestions on what to expect during tiling and/or how to make the tile cover the gap? Dkass, I hope your issue is resolved to your satisfaction. I can't wait to see images of the correction. Thanks for accommodating me on this thread.

I love blue with black and white toile. I'm going to paint my office this color:

Behr Light Frency Gray

I also think sage green is pretty. I'm not sure what the exact paint color is on this one.

BM Revere Pewter is a light neutral that you should look at, too.

I have a sample piece of B & W toile at home, so I took some pics so you could get an idea.

I'm with the gals who have suggested a pale blue. As a matter of fact, I was going to suggest BM Glass Slipper. I had black and white toile in my previous home with pale blue walls. I wish I had a picture but I don't!

Wow! Thanks to all of you for the great color suggestions. I've been searching the house high and low for my BM fan deck and plan to stop by HD to check out Behr's Light Frency (sp?) Gray. I'm so excited to finally get going on this room and can't wait to bring the samples home. Thanks again ...

I'd like to add BM Quiet Moments to teacats' list.

And for a pink, take a look at BM Odessa Pink. It's just a little bit 'grayed down' -- we used it in a bathroom that had black & white accessories and I loved it. Now we have it in our summer cottage living room and I love it all over again... and my DH had no complaints.
