I'm Back!!! Please Help with Choosing an Area Rug
Comments (24)First I would like to thank suero, parma42 and especially organic smallhouse for responding to my questions. I have finally chosen this rug that organic smallhouse suggested. I am going to do a "Try It Out for Thirty Days" to see if I can live with the print. This is the one I chose: a href="http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n13/ambitiousbeginner/?action=view&current=detailFamilyTmp.jpg" target="_blank"> suero..can you place the rug the way you did the other, I just want to see how it will look with the sofa. I have posted the picture of the family room again below. a href="http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n13/ambitiousbeginner/?action=view&current=DSCN0155.jpg" target="_blank"> I want your opinion again :-) Thanks...See MoreHelp choose wall color, rug & curtains
Comments (9)Everything is safely one color except for the floor....find a light rug and dark curtain panels to add contrast. Bring in one or two club chairs in a pattern using all colors in room, or a solid contrast color you love and put it in the chair, lamps or lamp shades, pillows and art work.....but think contrast at all levels, from light to dark. this is just a suggestion room that shows contrast. The curtains pillows and rug all are patterned in same colors in different amounts.....a contrast color from the rug, blue, was used for the pair of chairs....all other accents are black/brown....I do not know if this is a color scheme you would choose but the elements that are contrasting are all items you need to furnish a room: lamps, end table, cocktail table, wall art, cocktail table. rug ,pillows, etc..basically a lot of stuff. One pic or two pics or three pics will not furnish your room....you need ALL of these elements which can be added one thing at a time, you just have to decide where to start.....usually once you decide one thing then future choices are narrowed down and it gets easier. Love what you have done, but you do need to shop! Lucky you....See MoreI need help :) Living room just bringing me down...
Comments (67)So....back again -yet another rug disaster -I ordered a 3x5 of the very colorful rug and the BIG one is on the way -it doesn't work. Contemplating going with this one that someone shared but another Houzz responder mentioned was old fashioned (and so did a friend of mine who has a more contemporary decor style). I really don't understand what that means...my house is an old home and I have it styled more traditionally almost vintage. This one does seem to brighten the room and allows to incorporate other colors. Thoughts? BTW I'm almost 50 so I'm close to vintage ha ha! I'm not a modern or contemporary decorator as it doesn't work with our existing pieces. Thanks again!...See MoreI need help with choosing wall colors for a church worship center
Comments (9)Thank you so much JudyG Designs and Simplechoices! I appreciate your knowledge and the time you've given with suggestions and pictures. As of tomorrow I have to turn in these paint colors to the painters. The painters will only work with Diamond Vogel paints, so I've been trying to cross reference with my SW choices, which is always my go-to paint co., but the decision has been made; we are going with Captain Nemo on the front (both sides of wood). If you can look up that color, it is a deep gray (hint of blue) and it looks nice with our chairs- both the blue and the gray. I'd love your opinion- if you have one about this, on the color to choose for the three other walls in the room (both sides and the back). I am leaning toward Diamond Vogel- Metro. I don't understand enough about the technical aspects of warm/vs/cold and Light reflecting or not, but perhaps you can speak to that regarding these colors? We will make the carpeting choice after the painting is done. I appreciate your thoughts on how dark the carpet choice is, and I like the "rust" suggestion, so I'll begin looking in that direction. I think a blend of those tones- gray/rust/touch of blue? would make for a nice carryover of the antiquarian brown and might make the two brick columns accented too. The sample I had shown you- I was told, is commercial grade, solution dyed, and nylon. I did pull a loop and it did pull a few loops out, but not in one long strand...so not sure on that. I wanted to alter the ceiling to a deeper gray/bluish choice as JudyG Designs suggested, but it is too late....today the black paint arrived. How I wish I would have put my discussion on much sooner! Thank you, again! I so appreciate your suggestions!...See Moreashtonchic
