Please help me plan our master bathroom
Comments (13)It's a bit of a tricky space given its size. If you could get one more foot in either direction, it would open up more possibilities. Right now you are a bit limited due to maintaining proper space for code. Given the space constraints you either have to go to small shower stall to get the large vanity or go to a smaller vanity to get the larger shower. I errored on the side of the larger shower with these designs. These are basic sketches, not to scale. It changes the door position slightly. The window can stay where it is with these designs (or you can move to wall B with either option 2 or 3). In either of these designs, you can flip the door to open into the bedroom rather than the bathroom, which gives you an easier space to live with in terms of egress. Option 1. A shower wall is built next to the toilet. a half wall is built next to the vanity, with glass from wall top to ceiling. You could conceivably throw a laundry basket behind the door in the corner. The vanity would end up being about 38", unless you cheat into the shower more. Toilet would be 32" of floor space, but you could cheat into the shower to make it 36" (which is preferred) Option 2. The shower is 3 ft deep and then the width of the room. You could conceivably shrink the width of this a bit and incorporate a linen closet/open storage space where you could store your laundry on the side closes to the door. The vanity is 42" wide and you have 36" of floor space for the toilet. Feel free to swap position of the toilet and vanity here. Option 3. If you want to give up the large shower in favor of the larger vanity, you swap the shower and vanity positions in this design. This dedicates up to a 42" x 42" space for a shower stall (smaller will give you a bit more open floor space), which is still really quite roomy. This allows for a vanity the full length of the wall. The door is repositioned and opens the opposite way from the earlier design, although this design would definitely be better and may even require that the door actually opens into the bedroom....See MoreAny brilliant ideas for our master bathroom decor?
Comments (205)WE...that looks so AMAZING! The accessories are just right so zen and calm..one thing I would try is put white vase on tray and the gray vase on the counter..just for the heck of it...get some big fluffy white towels and roll them up and put them under the Buddha shelf....The Shade Store and Smith & Noble are great with shades so I am sure you will be able to get exactly what you need. the trim around the mirrors makes such a difference and love your new modern lighting...look at all that wonderful new hardware!:)...See MoreWhat to do for our master bathroom
Comments (8)If you can post a floor plan that really would help. It would be a shame to do anything that would obliterate those windows and that awesome view. Your shower must be deceptively big if you are considering adding a pool bath. A pool bath is a great idea. If you do add the pool bath I would certainly eliminate the door to the exterior. Will check back to see if you have been able to post a floor plan and will comment further if you do....See MoreMaster Bathroom remodel not what I hoped. What do I change?
Comments (23)If this bathroom had a title, it'd be "Too Much" -- I don't see farmhouse or transitional; rather, I see too much pattern and conflicting items. Part of this is because of today's trend towards very simple/calm. Ways to combat this: - Start with the easiest thing -- this alone should make a very big difference: remove clutter from the bathroom sinks. You have loads of drawer storage, so this should be possible. Make it your goal to organize your drawers /keep out on the cabinet only soap and hand towels. I'd say do this one thing and live with it a while -- see if it's "enough". If not: - In general I like big mirrors in bathrooms -- they're so practical -- but yours seem to be missing the mark. With "so much going on" and so much clutter, the first mirror duplicates that mess and the second mirror triples it. Once the clutter is gone, this will largely be alleviated. - The mirrors also look unfinished -- they need frames. Some people are saying "Go with small, framed mirrors". I'm fearful that these will just add to the overly-busy look. I really think the problem is the clutter the mirrors are reflecting. - Lose the doo-whop curtain over the tub -- consider a more simple curtain. - Could the tree perhaps be recreated as a wall-piece for the blue wall at the foot of the tub? The tree is "too much" where it is -- yet you need something on that blank wall. - You say you've removed the blue mats and towels -- that's good. While I like the color, I agree with those who say that keeping the color scheme simple will "calm" the room. The rug problem wasn't just the color -- you had too many little rugs; I'd like to see one larger rug, but I don't see how that could happen. - The tub is the first thing you see, and it's kinda cramped between these two doors -- it has to stay simple. I don't care for the pebble tile around the tub, and it's not really a need. Also note that the tub-side-tile is right next to the floor pattern, and they're not playing well together. - Someone else said change the dark hardware to a silver-tone. I disagree. As it is now, the darker hardware ties into the light fixtures -- don't change one without changing the other, and I know you said you were looking to do this without spending big. If you do change both items, go with something simple that'll blend in rather than stand out....See MoreRuth-Ann Bode
