Here's another pic I took with my displaced demilune. It's there because I moved it from a hallway nook to put up a xmas tree. That table is actually not all that awkward, but I agree that it might be tiresome when cleaning the floor. I would love to move all that stuff off the side of the frig. It's only cluttered during the school year, I swear! I'm leaning toward a magnetic chalkboard wall where that table is, and maybe a row of hooks on the wall parallel to the frig. I'm going to investigate exactly what it would take to just move the wall back to even with the laundry room door. Then, I could turn it into a small office area and reclaim my dining room!

Lisa - two KD people that I have spoken to said that the voided corner does not provide wider drawers on either side. What am I missing? Nothing as far as I can tell because what they are telling you makes no sense to me at all. If you don't give up 12" of linear space to a Susan, you gain 9" of drawer width (3" goes to spacer at corner). I considered adding a BCC to my sink corner (didn't have space on sink side to do corner Susan) but opted not to because a) it wasn't the right kind of storage for that corner and b) a drawer base was cheaper storage than a BCC. Here's my corner. Drawers & trash pull-outs open. If I had done a BCC, I would have lost the bank of drawers on the right. If I'd had room for a corner Susan, I would have lost 27" of much needed drawer storage. The few items that I would have been able to store in a BCC (ditto for a corner Susan) ended up in a a single drawer in a much roomier cab next to my wall oven. I use the items in the drawers in my prep zone much more regularly than the items I use in the drawer by my oven. A few extra steps now and then is a much better option than extra steps several times a day, IMO. Look at the whole picture when it comes to storage. What you decide for one area affects storage in another. It's a domino effect, IME.

If you are referring to area to right of tv, I would say yes, some shelving of similar finish as barn door, to the ceiling basically, would balance it; doesn't have to be very wide shelving, but the height is needed. A tall statue of some sort, a modern art sculptural piece, for example - in a dark finsh - might be interesting, too. I think my favorite idea might be to do something interesting with a plant or plants. That would bring an organic feel to the space, and would not compete with other elements. With plants, metal might be an interesting option there, also, like this piece above, from Lowes.

I would center the TV between the edge of the open door and the thermostat and mount it on the wall. Then I would hang a piece of vertically oriented art (about 20" wide x 36" deep to the left of the TV, centered between it and the closed door. The open door would cover the art, but it wouldn't be open all the time, so that would balance the TV. Alternatively, you could mount a board with some hooks to hang coats, purses, etc. on as you enter the house. I don't see a coat closet, so that would be handy. I also noticed the art on the side wall looks too big for the space. What if you hang it to the left of the front window? The wall looks a little wider there. Then you could get something smaller for where you took it down.
