I can't really see it very well, but what is that taller dark cabinet to the right? I don't think it's probably wide enough for the space, but I'd move it in there and see how a taller piece would look there. If something taller works, I'd find another place for those two dark pieces and put a larger bookshelf or cabinet in that space.

I think I see a chair to the left of the tv. You could also try it to the right instead and move the curio (the piece with the word on top) a few inches away from the side wall. It looks as if too scrunched into the corner.

If you are referring to area to right of tv, I would say yes, some shelving of similar finish as barn door, to the ceiling basically, would balance it; doesn't have to be very wide shelving, but the height is needed.

A tall statue of some sort, a modern art sculptural piece, for example - in a dark finsh - might be interesting, too.

I think my favorite idea might be to do something interesting with a plant or plants. That would bring an organic feel to the space, and would not compete with other elements.

With plants, metal might be an interesting option there, also, like this piece above, from Lowes.

You could move the brown chair to that corner and hang a large piece of art to balance the barn door.

However, if you read books, you could also have a bookcase made that would be as tall as the barn door and about as wide, stained the same color as the barn door. Filled with books, it wouldn't be too heavy looking.

Thank you. We did try to put the chair in that corner, but the way the sectional is positioned, it makes the chair sit too far back relative to the sectional. It looked really awkward & crowded. There is no room to move the sectional.

For best balance, I think another barn door would do it. You might just wall mount it and leave it plain. You could attach wrought iron shelves to it to mimic the barn door hardware on the other one.

You don't have to put the chair all the way in the corner, but just float it in that space between the curio and the tv. Not against the wall, but angled a bit toward the sectional.

BeverlyFLADeziner I love your ideas. This would resolve the issue for sure. Thank you so much! <3 BTW the chair is a gray chair. It now blends in after adding barn door. I think I'm going to get a light colored throw blanket to put on back of chair to soften it up.

The chair only blends in because the lighting is not so good. Once you add a floor lamp, that will illuminate the corner by the door.
