Ideas on how to get snake out of my pond? (long post)
Comments (16)Catching a snake is frustrating and time consuming if you are sitting out there waiting for it to come out of it's hole. You can't sit quietly enough to keep it from knowing you are there. They hunt by detecting heat and vibrations. The easiest way is to use the normal behavior of a snake to get it to go where you want. Snakes like warm dark places so you can lay out a paper bag ( a pillow case will be too bright, a burlap sack will do fine) with an opening arranged so the snake can go inside. Wire or a frame of some sort will help keep it open but the object is to create a dark cave. If there is no sun to make the bag warm put a heating pad under it. The snake eventually will go inside, curl up and go to sleep. Then you can scoop up the bag at the open end, twist it a couple of times and tie it off. Twilight is a good time as is noon. Those are times the snake finds a place to nap. Put the snake, bag and all in a garbage can with a snug lid. They can get out of anything that is shorter than a standard garbage can. The advantage to this is you don't have to chase it and it won't be injured and you won't get hurt either. Sandy...See Morei have my wardrobe wall plans--help me post them?
Comments (11)Go to photobucket.com and follow the directions for setting up a new account. [You can use flicker or some others, it doesn't really matter. I said photobucket because that is what I use.] Once you set up the account, which should take just a couple of minutes, you can upload your photos to it. Their directions are really straight forward. Hopefully, your plans are in a .jpg format so that there's nothing tricky about the upload. If they aren't, tell us what they are and we can hopefully tell you what to do with them. From there, you're good. You hover over the photo you want in your post, a box comes up with several selections one of which is "HTML code." Click on that selection and it automatically copies the code you need. Come over here to your post and paste that code into your message. Voila!...See MoreWhere do you post your garden design ideas?
Comments (3)I post most on my local area forum (New England) which is quite active. I also sometimes post on perennials, shrubs and here. Mostly I am posting what I already have planted, not asking for input on plans. I don't draw planting plans, however, but I do plan in my head, and usually lay out everything in a new or refurbished bed before planting anything. I think we have fewer issues with regular water here in New England than you do (my memory is that you are further west, though your profile doesn't say), though this spring we have gone 3 weeks, much of it windy with temperatures in the 70's and 80's (unseasonably warm) without a drop. I would welcome rain about now as our fire danger is high. Usually we get regular rain, and I don't worry about watering other than the veggie garden. But I do plant in zones where the plants that may need water if we go for longer than a month without rain are within range of hoses. Along the edge of the woods, I haul water in jugs for the first year after planting if needed, and then after that the plants are on their own to survive or not. Like you, I plant natives in areas farther from the house which for me is along the woodland and wetland edges....See MoreSpring Wardrobe Refresh - opinions & thoughts
Comments (59)I looked up the GH dress also earlier this morning-- love it but i think I need another summer before I can wear that style/size range. I had a pair of JJill linen pants in that overdyed blue and loved them-- but one morning I accidentally sprayed a cleaner on them instead of spray starch. Ugh. Worse.. I didn't even realize it until I arrived at work and saw the color disappearing from my pants in a not attractive way. I did order a top from GH just to recheck sizing. I have worn GH in the past (thinner days) so it is possible! bbstx, I saw your message -- i am going into a series of interviews (hiring.. not looking). I will get back to you this afternoon. Thanks so much-- you are a sweetie!...See Morejust_terrilynn
