I would rip it out completely and rethink your furniture layout in stead.

Absolutely remove it. It looks like a concierge’s desk in a hotel.

I had a wall like that in between my dining room and foyer and it just was a catch all for junk. Removed it during remodel and it opened up my space so much. I say remove the whole thing.

So if I remove it completely and have a small bench in the entrance that will “see through “ between the armchairs in the living room? Should I then move the bench ? Buy something as a divider between entrance and a living room?

I think you can do better than the little bench. It looks more like an ottoman.

You don’t need a divider, you are just so used to having something there.

Once you remove the wall, we can come up with solutions as it seems you need a “catch all” spot to drop your stuff.

This is right, this wall is a magnet to a mess and I won’t miss it. If I remove the wall completely will it be ok to enter the house and just see the back of armchairs?

Maybe the front of the house doesn't need so much furniture? Just because something was bought as a set, doesn't mean that you have to use it all together... you can separate it to different spaces :)

It's all about personal preference. Lots of people like to have that space separation, you walking or when you have the company you can put things on the ledge, etc, having a bench on the other side also a nice feature many people like. Some like to have a table with a mirror on top and a bench.

With that said, it's all about what you like and how you can benefit from that knee-wall.

The funny thing is when you building a home or doing some sort of remodeling and a similar situation comes up customers always ask how to separate the foyer from the adjoining space and everyone loves the idea of a knee-wall basic or trimmed out, etc.

Customers who have a knee wall asking if it's a good idea to take it out and I tell everyone and I will tell you the same thing, it's already there, see what you can do with it to make it work in your favor and if you don't like it down the road you can always take it out, plus you have a switch there controlling the light or one of the recetacles on that wall, etc. You have to patch the walls and the flooring, etc it's a lot of work and all the money that you will spend and the only thing you will gain is to look at the back of the couch... Just something to think about.

I have to agree with GN Builders. This is something, only you can decide. We can all give opinions, but, everyones taste is different. If you like having the entrance a bit separate, then, I would leave it. If you want your entrance open to the living room, then, go ahead and remove it. If you decide on removing it, I would remove it all. If you decide you need something, then keep it all.

I am replacing the hardwood on the main floor so it’s the time when I can remove the wall. I hate the angles part of the wall but my concern if I leave the straight Part, it’s just too small. I always had an ottoman at the entrance to put the shoes on, so I guess it’s whats confusing how to open up the space but still have 2 functionalities Of entry hall which is very small in my case , and a living room (2 armchairs backing on the entrance)?

Ooohhh...I was on the side of "tear it down" until I read GN Builder's reply - very good points made. You're asking about other ways to create a divider, why do you want to remove the wall? If it's because it's a clutter magnet, that's a matter of changing habits, otherwise the clutter will just accumulate somewhere else.

Do you have a table or a console in the entry with drawers for wallets, keys etc.? A side table with a drawer by your loveseat can store eyeglasses, meds, etc.

I think the half-wall does serve a good purpose in screening out the backs of furniture.

I want to remove it because first of all the angled part is very unpractical as you can’t line up the furniture there. I don’t want it to collect the clutter and I would find a place to put keys and sunglasses:) it’s true that it looks like a hotel counter And I am ready to let it go. I just want to find a solution

Are you SURE there is flooring beneath the wall. If not, don't bother.

With one sole picture, I'm not sure you gain anything by removing the half wall. I'm assuming it's a windbreak. Are you in a climate that gets cold? This half wall may aid in prohibiting that cold rush of air to enter your living area.

A loveseat placed on an angle in most rooms would be an indication that there may be a better furnishings layout for this room.

I would remove it. A foyer table/bench looks like it should be on the latch side of the door anyway (I think you put the ottoman there just because there is a corner). The Living looks too shallow to put chairs across from the long couch, so only a chair where the loveseat is - you don't have to worry about seeing a "back." Removing the wall will make the Living seem larger too.
