My son-in-law and their crew after completing the 9/11 stair climb in honor of those firefighters lost. This was in 2019 as It was cancelled last year. He’s the one with the flag. In case you don’t know, they climb the equivalent of the World Trade Tower stairs in full turnout gear and each FF carries a photo of one lost.

Outside Playing, what a touching tribute.

HIghway workers keep us safe too, sometimes at the cost of their lives. Virginia's monument to them overlooks a scenic valley in the Blue Ridge, features profiles of workers in three stones with one open profile.

NYFD Engine 55, Little Italy, New York City, NY. Engine 55 was one of the first to respond on 9/11. It was also the duty assignment of actor Steve Buscemi for 4 years before he became an actor.

I'm appreciative of first responders of all sorts but mostly when they're working, and it's inappropriate to be taking pictures. I have memories of these heroes but no photos to share, but "thanks and respect" to them all the same.

In downtown LA

I can't find any photos for today's theme, I must have the deleted the blurry one of our local volunteer fire department riding though our neighborhood the day before Christmas with Santa waving from the top.

This is the best I can do. DH's grandfather was a police officer and he still remembers the many safety lessons he was taught as a child, including fire safety. As a result we have quite a few fire extinguishers - this is the little one next to his work shop in the garage.
