Almost all my travel pics are before digital. Prints are in boxes out of reach on a shelf in a closet. So this will have to do for government buildings. Sixty two years ago on my high school senior trip to DC. Of course, I did not take the picture. I am the first girl on the right, front row.

WWII memorial in Washington DC

And forgive my posting 2, but I have a similar high school trip photo... 55 years ago. I am on the 2nd row, 4th from right. Notice some of the boys with ties and jackets! This was a photo I took of one hanging in the museum in my hometown. I have my original copy somewhere.

If you notice in tvq1's photo of the lovely Hotel de Ville in the Grand Place in Brussels (which for real dates from the 1400s), the tower is famously not centered. It's a bit too far to the right as you look at it. I don't know why.

Other facades in this unique medieval square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also interesting. Photos are easily found on the internet, visiting in person (when it's again easy to do) is even better. Here's a taste of 3 sides, click to enlarge

Elmer--that whole square is just stunning, isn't it? When we were there one whole side was being restored, but they had a HUGE covering that showed what those buildings looked like. It was also crazy crowded!

The city hall IS located in that building, on the lower floors. However, I didn't realize it dated back that far!

Edited to add: And I hadn't noticed that the tower was not centered!

Yes, it is stunning. On the photo I posted that I found online, you can see two things - there appears to be a stage set up at the far right rear, and a small amount of outdoor cafe seating on the nearer right side.

I've been there many times - on a fine day, the outdoor cafe seating is pretty extensive and there's nothing nicer to do than sit, drink a beer or two, sweep your head from side to side like a radar antenna, and submerge yourself in the setting.
